Job Expectations

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communication
    • Establish appropriate procedures to keep informed of branch results and issues
    • Communicate and implement company policy and procedures
    • Promote One MORSCO brand, making what is in the best interest of the company a top priority
  • Customer Focus
    • Effectively interact with customers, identifying their needs, resolving customer issues, ensuring customer satisfaction, and assuring that all branch Associates consistently demonstrate positive customer service behaviors
    • Maintain a professional and customer-friendly branch appearance in accordance with company set standards; including effective display of merchandise and sales promotions
    • Coordinate with outside and inside sales representatives to maintain customer relations and grow customer base
  • Financial
    • Monitor revenue and profitability on an ongoing basis, making adjustments as needed to achieve established targets
    • Review and take appropriate action on reports, including, but not limited to:
      • Open order reports
      • Cash reconciliation
      • Petty cash and cash drawer
      • Manual ticket reconciliation
      • AP to PO variance report
      • Cycle count, variance report and/or inventory adjustments
      • Invoice register
      • Pricing and problem hold sales orders
      • Credit memos
      • Voided pick tickets
      • Expense reports
  • Human Resources
    • Lead others in a challenging performance-driven environment while maintaining unquestionable integrity
    • Provide regular and ongoing coaching and feedback to branch Associates to drive the highest levels of associate engagement and performance
    • Actively support Associate development, including facilitation of training on essential duties, product knowledge and career path development. Offer assistance to Associates requiring additional training or tools to ensure success
    • Maintain and approve associate time records
  • Operations
    • Daily management of branch operations
    • Monitor the purchasing and sales functions of the branch, partnering with Support Center resources to address requirements and issues as appropriate
    • Accurately manage inventory levels, maintaining appropriate balance of fast/slow moving items and accurately use purchase order system
    • Accurately manage annual physical inventory
    • Regularly evaluate warehouse efficiency, including analyzing and eliminating practices that waste supplies, utilities, space and time. Drive continuous improvement activities to optimize operations
    • Monitor work areas and customer areas to ensure cleanliness
    • Oversee all building and grounds maintenance
    • Oversee maintenance on all company trucks and forklifts
    • Responsibilities as outlined by the current years audit (Fortiline)
  • Safety
    • Actively promote safety at the branch, driving Associate education and accountability for a safe working environment and safe work practices
    • Establish and support safety committee
  • Perform other duties as assigned

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

  • Bachelors Degree in Industrial Distribution, Business, Engineering or other related discipline. A combination of education and greater than 15 years direct experience may be considered as a substitute for a degree
  • Minimum of 7 - 10 years industry experience with a minimum 1 - 3 years in a supervisory role

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating reports, financial statements, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Must be self-motivated, including high attention to detail with ability to focus and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to motivate others and drive teamwork/cohesion among a group of individuals
  • Must possess strong computer skills including use of Microsoft Excel and Word; previous experience with an ERP system (i.e. Eclipse, Mincron) is an asset
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required. Must be able to speak effectively before customers, vendors or Associates
  • Must have excellent customer relations skills with the ability to engage a wide range of customers both in-person and by phone
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently identify solutions
  • Must present a professional image at all times to Associates, customers, and vendors
  • Knowledge of OSHA and general safety requirements
  • Knowledge of CDL rules and requirements
