Job Description

Purpose

The role of the Business Development Representative is to drive company revenue and profitability through regular interaction with customers in accordance with established sales goals. The Business Development Representative is responsible for increasing opportunities with new and existing customers using a consultative selling approach to deliver value to our customers.

Expectations

  • Build teamwork within the branch, region and company by living the values- what is best for the customer and the team always comes first
  • Sells based on company value proposition by identifying key growth opportunities product and services offerings
  • Actively and consistently call on assigned and new accounts in accordance with sales policies and procedures to regularly meet monthly/annual sales goals
  • Develop strong relationships with customers by providing professional representation and assistance in all areas to improve customers profits
  • Engage with customers through frequent customer office/job site visits, ensuring their satisfaction with our products and services
  • Consistently identify new sales opportunities, including potential new customers and pursue to generate new business/additional revenue consistent with assigned new business goals
  • Grow Value Added Product (VAL) sales with all existing and new customers
  • Monitor current sales trends and product performance results
  • Utilize company reporting to analyze customer buying trends and develop plans to qualify and engage new customers
  • Effectively present products and capabilities during sales calls
  • Communicate shipping dates (changes) to branch personnel/inside sales
  • Work closely with Branch Managers and team members to promote sales at branch level, coordinate inventory utilization, delivery, and stay up to date with return processing
  • Continually enhance sales skills and product knowledge to promote a professional image in the field

  • Understand the customers situation. Agree on pain and value opportunities by asking the right questions and adapting to behaviour and buyer biases.

PROVIDE VALUE

  • Personalize solutions matched to the customers pain, or growth opportunities. Imply value and provide evidence through examples.

ENHANCE THE RELATIONSHIP

  • Deliver on agreed promises and cocreate future growth opportunities. Find a cadence that enables agreed outcomes and develop multiple stakeholder relationships on both sides.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School education or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 - 7 - years sales experience in the industry preferred
  • Travel up to 90% of time
  • Must always present a professional image to customers and vendors
  • Must have a valid drivers license and good driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience within the wholesale industry
  • Previous experience with an ERP system (i.e. Eclipse, Mincron)
