CAD Technologist (Land Development / Municipal)

We are currently seeking a Civil Technologist for our Waterloo, Ontario IBI Group office to assist with our continued project workload. This role provides an opportunity to work in a medium-sized office with ties to the resources and projects of a large international, multi-disciplinary consulting firm. The opportunity will involve work primarily in Land Development, but will include varied and extensive project work in all our Civil Engineering practice areas alongside a multi-disiplinary team including water resources, planning, building and landscape architecture.

Most of the things you'll work on:

• Providing civil engineering design and technical support for land-development and municipal infrastructure, including: Civil 3D design, modelling, calculations, quantity take-offs, drawing review, etc
• Assisting in the preparation of feasibility studies, preliminary design, engineering specifications, contract documents, etc
• Coordinating, working with and assisting fellow project team members
• Undertaking such other tasks required to advance and complete work on land-development and municipal projects

You'll need to have:

• A graduate of a Civil Engineering Technology program, ideally with +7 years of design experience
• Intermediate to proficient skills with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Strong working knowledge of Excel, WORD, and Outlook
• Strong aptitude for learning new software and design skills
• Experience in the production of land development, municipal servicing, road, designs and drawings
• Knowledgeable of pipe-sizing and SWM principles
• Strong verbal and writing communication in English
• Ability to produce high-quality work under changing circumstances
• An open mind to design options and a keen eye for detail
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Committed to ongoing personal and professional development

Office description:

We are currently in a work from home model during COVID-19, but when we do return to the office we're located at 410 Albert St in Waterloo, Ontario.
