Overall Job Objective

POSITION SUMMARY

Assist with day camp activities for children and perform related tasks as required. Plan and supervise day camp activities, interact with campers and their parents and provide indoor and outdoor enrichment programs. Ensure the safety and well-being of program participants and perform other duties as required.

Hourly pay rate: $11.73 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Organize, lead, and promote interest in a wide variety of recreational activities, such as arts, crafts, sports, games, and hobbies
    1. Actively and enthusiastically participate in all activities
    2. Assess the needs and interests of individuals and groups and plan activities, accordingly, given the available equipment or facilities
      1. Direct and support activities such as swimming lessons, arts and crafts, sports instruction, fitness, and outdoor programming
      2. Develop and lead activities designed for the age and abilities of the campers
      3. Enforce program rules and regulations, maintains discipline, safeguards against accidents, and instructs children in the safe use of equipment
        1. Responsible for knowing each campers special needs to include food allergies, medications, emergency contact information, and other information required for the safety of campers
        2. Enforce rules and regulations of recreational facilities to maintain discipline and ensure safety
          1. Ensure that program areas are kept free of hazards and debris
          2. Ensure campers are always supervised, including group management and organization during lunchtime, camp arrival, camp dismissal, and off-campus field trips
          3. Ensure that first aid supplies are in possession when traveling with groups on field trips
          4. Report hazards or noticeable facility damage to the Camp Coordinators and Bellaire Parks and Recreation Staff immediately
          5. Participate in staff meetings; assist in planning special events, and provide information about programs to the public
          6. Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior
          7. Assist in cleaning and maintaining the campsite
          8. Perform other duties as requested or required
          REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

          16 years of age or older

          LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

          • Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of the following pre-employment checks:
            • Criminal background check (18 years or older)
            • Controlled substance screening
