Campus Security Manager

Wage: $65,000 - $75,000/hour

SUMMARY:
The campus security manager (CSM) leads a team of security officers and is accountable for delivery of physical security- related services at one or more assigned datacenters in a geographic area. The CSM partners with senior leadership and management teams to help drive operational effectiveness, superior performance, and audit readiness. Responsible for preserving an environment where people and property are safe and well-protected, the CSM utilises their professional experience to manage people with varying skillsets and devise effective strategies to drive improvement.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Manages physical security operations at one or more critical infrastructure facilities.
2. Actively manages site security personnel; partners with the local branch to recruit and hire, oversees onboarding, training, and development at the site.
3. Ensures each staff member and facility employee is treated with dignity and respect.
4. Oversees site security systems to ensure safe and compliant operation of the facility.
5. Plans, assigns, and manages physical security projects and tasks to timely completion.
6. Coaches security employees and carries out disciplinary actions in accordance with current policy.
7. Evaluates the effectiveness of site security operations and provides recommendations for improvement.
8. Utilises excellent customer service and communications skills, sets the example and holds site security staff accountable to do the same.
9. Ensures site health and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) goals are met or exceeded; works with the Regional
Security Manager to enhance security team effectiveness and performance.
10. Meets regularly with the client and Securitas corporate management representatives for account reviews, addresses issues in a timely manner, and supports security planning, assessments, and surveys.
11. Maintains site-specific post orders and contributes to document reviews that support compliance.
12. Documents and improves work processes to make workflow more efficient and productive.
13. Keeps management informed of major accomplishments, issues, and concerns.
14. Follows standardised procedures to successfully complete unannounced audits.
15. Reviews security event and incident reports; ensures timely notification to appropriate management.
16. Partners closely with and maintains positive working relationships with datacenter operations management.
17. Manages security incidents, ensuring quick resolution of events with minimum business disruptions.
18. Builds and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maintain a safe and secure environment.
19. Ensures all security staff, facility employees, contractors, and visitors adhere to site safety rules and complies with various policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY:
Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference, depending upon the nature of the position.


MINIMUM HIRING STANDARDS:
* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* Must have a reliable means of communication, such as cell phone.
* Must have a reliable means of transportation (public or private).
* Must hold or be able to obtain a valid driver's license in the state/country they reside.
* Must have the legal right to work in the country where they reside.
* Fluent in written and spoken English
* Must have a High School diploma or secondary education equivalent, or GED.
* Must be willing to participate in the Company's pre-employment screening process, including drug screen and background investigation.
* Must hold a current Private Security Authority (PSA) Licence.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
* Associate degree (post-secondary education) in Security Management, Business Management, or a related field desirable.
* Experience managing people and leading teams with varying levels of experience and security knowledge.
* Experience managing security events, safety incidents, and/or emergency incidents.
* Four or more years of experience in the security industry and/or business management with increasing levels of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience enough to perform the essential functions of the job.

* Experience in staff supervision desired


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's degree (Criminal Justice, Business Management, or related field, and previous experience in a corporate security, military or law enforcement position.
* Working knowledge and experience with various security technologies including CCTV, access control systems, incident management software, and other video surveillance software.
* Experience using MS Office suite of tools and applications.
* Security industry qualifications or security certifications, such as CPP or PSP, a plus.

* Additional relevant experience can be substituted for the required education based on one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Have a current passport or be able to obtain one.
* Able to travel (international or domestic, as required) approximately 10% of the time or more, as required.
* A continued ability to freely enter the USA.
* Able to work evening or weekend hours when required, such as during an emergency event or crisis.


COMPETENCIES (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing):
* Must be able to meet and continue to meet licensing requirements for Security Officers, as applicable to local laws and regulation.
* Must be able to meet and continue to meet requirements for specific skills, certifications or authorisations specified for the assigned accounts.
* Knowledge of security operations and procedures applicable to a 24-hour facility.
* Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures.
* Skill in staff supervision, including assigning work and providing training and discipline.
* Ability to provide positive direction and motivate performance.
* Ability to track and maintain scheduled assignments.
* Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual and stressful circumstances.
* Knowledge of business operations management and human resources administration.
* Strong computer skills. Must be proficient or familiar with Microsoft products, such as Word, Excel, and others.
* Demonstrates management skills, including planning, organising, delegating, problem solving, training, coaching, and praising or disciplining staff in a positive manner.
* Displays leadership skills, such as communication, motivation, honesty, responsibility, and other characteristics.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills required for preparing clear, concise and grammatically correct materials and communicating information effectively to others.
* Strong customer service and service delivery orientation.
* Able to conduct presentations and facilitate group meetings, both in person and online
* Ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures.
* Ability to take initiative and achieve results within constraints of standard operating procedures.
* Ability to multi-task and complete assignments concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to adapt to change in the external environment and organisation.
* Ability to synthesise and arrive at logical conclusions with input derived from multiple sources.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

* Successful passage of background and reference checks, job related controlled substance tests, and any mandatory licensing requirements.

* Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff, and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
* May be exposed to or required to handle sensitive and confidential information.

* May require regular use of vehicle and frequent travel in the performance of duties.
* Regular talking and hearing.
* Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 35 pounds or kilo equivilents.
* Walking, reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
* Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
* On occasion may be required to perform stressful and physical activity.
* Required to work long hours without advance notice or significant breaks as needed.

* Able to adjust schedule and working hours necessary to meet operational needs.
