Primary Purpose:

To positively impact student achievement by providing students research-validated interventions and by training and coaching teachers and staff to improve differentiated instruction.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelors degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
Masters degree preferred
ESL certification
Wilson certification preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Training in specialized, research-validated math, reading, writing, language acquisition and behavior interventions
Ability to administer assessments, analyze data to inform instruction, and develop instructional plans
Ability to structure own time and manage multiple priorities
Strong consulting, collaboration and communication skills
Knowledge of Tier I curriculum, assessment and instructional strategies, research- based effective practices in specific content areas, and effective use of instructional technology
Ability to work closely with the building team and district administrators to coordinate and implement the work of an RTI professional learning community

Experience:

Three years teaching experience
Experience coaching/collaborating with other teachers
Experience designing, delivering and analyzing the impact of specialized, research- based interventions

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies:

Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned including language acquisition strategies.

Conduct assessment of student progress and use results to inform the RTI Student
Support Team processes, plan instructional activities, and make curricular adjustments.
Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, strategies and progress of each student.

Student Growth and Development:

Assist in district, campus and classroom ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
Advise RTI Student Support Team, teachers, parents and district level teams to facilitate data driven decision making concerning instructional materials, strategies, assessment selections and analysis, and curricular revisions.
Evaluate language proficiency levels, implement appropriate language acquisition strategies, and provide for affective social development.
Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.

Coaching/Consulting/Communication:

Establish a positive and supportive relationship with parents, teachers and administrators through regular communication of student progress.
Use effective and professional communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Facilitate push-in Tier II support by planning, modeling and analyzing the impact of learning strategies including language acquisition and cultural understanding.
Provide teachers with current research and resources related to research-validated interventions to effectively layer Tier I and Tier II instruction
Act as a resource who is skillful, reliable and accessible
Demonstrate and facilitate protocols for using student work and performance data to make informed instructional decisions

Facilitation/Training:

Provide (or facilitate) training for a variety of school staff on a variety of topics such as effective instruction, differentiation, classroom management, data-driven instruction, instructional technology tools and strategies
Provide (or facilitate) training on the use of instructional strategies targeted to special student groups such as typical Tier I weaknesses, Tier II student needs,
ELL and others
Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.

Professional Growth and Development:

Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies as well as acting as a knowledgeable resource for all stakeholders.
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
