How this role supports our mission:

The Primary role of the Career Development Specialist (CDS) is to serve the public, including individuals with various barriers to employment and Goodwill employees, with job placement assistance and referrals to community resources. The CDS interacts with Goodwill Industries Workforce Development and Retail division staff and management, the public, employers and community service providers. The CDS provides services to individuals with a wide variety of barriers to employment.

What we require from you:

Special requirements:

Bachelors Degree in, Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Services, Psychology, or related area preferred.

Minimum of three (3) years case management and/or related experience, working with individuals one on one and in groups.

Must be familiar with job market, job search techniques and local community resources and support services.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to conduct workshops and/or classes with the ability to motivate and empower.

Must have advanced computer skills; MSOffice: Word, Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint

Staff the Job Connection Center providing services in a professional manner, creating a friendly welcoming and engaging environment that people feel comfortable using and asking for help.

Greet customers within the first 10 seconds upon entering the center and identify their needs; resume, online applications, interview tips, email account set up, resource search, etc.

Educate customers on what the center offers, how it is funded and the mission of Goodwill.

Maintain up-to-date local job information for customers/job seekers.

Assist in teaching resume development, conducting job searches, applying for jobs, interview skills, workplace success, employer follow-up, etc.

Check on customers regularly offering additional help and encourage customers to come back for further assistance.

Guide customers to community resources, and maintain good working relationships with referral agencies.

Provide resource and referral information to those who may be struggling and in need of additional/other supportive services.

Instruct and run employment related workshops and/or classes.

Implement and maintain compliance of CARF accreditation standards for both departmental and agency requirements.

Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision.

Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and environments.

Ability to read, write, and speak English; follow written and verbal instruction.

Possess current AZ drivers license, and personal transportation with proof of auto insurance.
