DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:

The Carpenters Helper performs skilled and semi-skilled carpentry work in alteration, repair, rehabilitation and
new construction for the Gila River Indian Community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
0 Perform general carpentry work in accordance with generally accepted journeyman trade practices.
0 Utilize hand tools, power tools, handling common equipment and light motor vehicles.
0 Assist in handling heavy construction materials such as roof trusses, shovels, trowels and direct wet concrete
?ow.
0 Apply laminations when required.
0 Load and unload materials such as sheetrock, plywood, lumber, cement nails, plumbing, electrical and roofing
supplies.
0 Assist workers in other construction trades when required.
0 Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE. SKILL AND ABILITY:Thorough knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and practices of carpentry.Ability to observe all safety regulations and procedures.Ability to perform strenuous physical labor.Ability to use hand tools and small tools safely.Ability to read blueprints and other construction drawings.Ability to follow oral/written directions/instructions and exercise good judgment.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Officials
and the public.
0 Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace.REQUIRED EDUCATION /EXPERIEN CE:
High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in general carpentry, building
maintenance, building construction or closely related experience.ADDITIONAL RE! QUIREMENTS:

- Required to Obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission of the
