Since its inauguration in 1964, under the Economic Opportunity Act, Job Corps has provided more than 2 million disadvantaged young people with the integrated academic, vocational, and social skills training they need to gain independence and get quality, long-term jobs or further their education. Albuquerque Job Corps is a Career Development Services System. We are currently seeking a CDSS Director who manages and oversees all areas of CDSS to include support to OA and CTS. Duties to include:

Responsible for the management of the department which includes all areas of CDSS: Oversees staff members assigned to this department. Ensures staff members have adequate training to complete key areas of responsibilities. Provides documented training to staff. Cross- trains department employees. Coordinates staff meetings. Ensures that all staff participates in CMT. Develops and implements Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ensures department is compliant with all safety standards and expectations to include proper workmens compensation reporting. Ensures department is in compliance with all DOL, Corporate and Center requirements.

Provides overall direction of the programs departments as well as other Center functions while ensuring high quality and efficiency of the Job Corps program: Maintains Centers operations to satisfy the needs of all trainees and staff. Establishes and maintains effective communication with all other departments on Center. Develops and implements SOPs to ensure smooth running operations. Reviews and distributes Job Corps notices and bulletins, ensuring procedures are developed consistent with the various regulations. Ensures that all reports are completed and distributed timely and accurately. Demonstrates effective public contact in all interactions with government representatives, vendors, subcontractors, and the public. Identifies problems, trouble-shoots and makes recommendations for solutions to the Center Director. Conducts internal audits and assists Corporate Office and DOL representatives with quarterly and periodic reviews. Acts as Center Director in his/her absence.

Provides overall management of the Career Development Departments to include Career Preparation, Academics, Career Technical Training, Career Counseling, Career Transitions, Continuing Education and leadership: Directs, supervises, and implements a quality program which is administered within the guidelines mandated by DOL, Corporate Office and Center. Confers with supervisor/managers to plan and develop methods and procedures for implementing programs. Prepares and reviews reports, records of activity, and other data to ensure progress towards specific objectives. Modifies or changes methodology as required to redirect or attain objectives. Determines policies and procedures for department according to federal register, PRH, Corporate, and other mandates and directives. Monitors the statistical performance of this area and develops corrective action plans to improve standards.

Acts as liaison between Center and OA and CTS contractors: Directs, supervises, and implements a quality program which is administered within the guidelines mandated by DOL, Corporate Offices and Center guidelines. Works with OA contractor to ensure Center is at contracted OBS and that the Centers culture is maintained. Works with CTS contractors to ensure all trainees are placed during initial placement period, and that they receive all other long term transitional services.

Monitors trainees behavior: Ensures proper conduct of trainees in all areas. Assists staff with behavior problems, coordinating referrals to CSIO as required. Creates methods and programs to motivate constructive trainee behavior. Maintains awareness of the individual needs of various minority and cultural groups. Monitors accountability process.

Monitors budget and related areas for assigned department and maintains spending limits as applicable: Ensures equipment assigned to the department is properly accounted for and maintained in good condition. Tracks spending of staff each month. Provides feedback for over/under spending. Notifies the Center Director of repairs/costs above routine expenditures.

Develops Others: Establishes high level of mutual trust and support with others. Expresses positive expectations of others, even in difficult situations. Creates a learning atmosphere, reassures and encourages improved performance. Provides timely coaching. Identifies successes and areas of improvement. Delegates tasks or responsibilities for the purpose of developing others abilities. Rewards good performance and promotes employee recognition. Ensures that departmental staff completes all DOL, Corporate and Center training as required and demonstrates competencies accordingly.

Displays management effectiveness: Builds pride and commitment through effective teamwork and collaboration. Adheres to established company policies and procedures, and supports all programs. Delivers timely coaching and conducts employee evaluations when scheduled. Makes effective use of time, materials and resources by planning, scheduling and organizing work. Communicates in an open and honest manner. Sets appropriate performance goals for staff.

Demonstrates excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills: Hires and promotes employees based on sound decision-making ability. Improves processes within department, emphasizing quality and efficiency. Anticipates and resolves problems, demonstrating good judgment. Provides leadership in developing and implementing solutions.
