Central Sterile Tech

Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department following established infection control practices. Prepares and gathers all surgical and procedure supplies for the Operating Room, Emergency, Intensive Care, and Labor and Delivery Departments. Examines and Inspects instruments and equipment. Stocks supplies needed for department. Performs regulatory tests and other related duties as assigned. Demonstrates support of the Medical Centers mission, values and vision in all actions and interactions with employees, patients, medical staff, guests and visitors through use of STAR key words: Service, Teamwork, Accountability/Attitude, Responsiveness.

Requirements:

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Basic understanding of various functions of the department.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Preferred:

• Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department.
• Registered Central Service Technician (RCST), Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CBSPD) or must complete certification within one year of employment
• Knowledgeable with cleaning and sterilization procedures and techniques.
• Prefer experience as Central Service Technician or surg tech experience preferred. Will Train Accordingly.
