JOB SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking for an experienced Medical Assistant for our Womens Clinic.

Provides general office support with a variety of clerical and clinical activities and related tasks. The medical assistant will be responsible for answering incoming calls, directing calls to appropriate associates, requisition of supplies, front and back duties.

The Women's Outreach Clinic is a clinic located on the ground floor adjacent to the SJMC Women's building. It has 4 exams rooms, a Neonatal Stress Test room and a Point of Care lab. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.

The Family Birth Center (FBC) comprises 2 floors of the Women's Center. The third floor has twenty-eight (28) beds and a Transition Nursery. The fourth floor has twenty-two (22) beds with the capability to flex up to twenty-eight (28) beds. The fourth floor has the capability of a Transition Nursery.

Takes ownership of a patient safety related issue and openly acknowledges an ongoing problem requiring attention.

Other duties as assigned.

Growth

Enhances the patient experience by fostering a positive relationship with customers. Contributes to improving patient satisfaction results.

Finance

Prevents waste of resources while ensuring quality patient care. Assists department\unit manager in scheduling and time keeping of Associates to prevent payroll irregularities.

Consistently supports the hospitals Spirit of Serving Standards, in line with the Mission, Vision and Values of St. Joseph Medical Center.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
WORK EXPERIENCE:

Prefer 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SKILLS:- Technical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills relevant to area in order to effectively communicate with physicians, health team members, patients and families.- Ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision, in order to independently carry out the duties of the position.- Ability to follow direction and manage change effectively.- Able to communicate effectively, in English and Spanish, both verbally and in writing.- Additional languages preferred.- Computer knowledge.- Medical assists must have good communication skills and must be caring towards patients.- They should be willing to work under pressure.- They must be understanding and answer all questions of the patients as simply as possible.- They must use discretion while maintaining patient confidentiality.- They must be in a good health and have a positive personality.


EDUCATION & TRAINING:
High school diploma or GED.

6 months to one year work experience in a similar environment

Bilingual (Spanish/English)- Familiar with ICD-9 coding

LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:

American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification is required.

Certified Medical Assistant

PREFERRED

Bi or Multilingual.

Clerical skills such as typing, computer knowledge and general medical Terminology.

Experience in Acute Care facility
