Position Description
Employees in this classification provide patient care management to an assigned clinic in the areas of clerical and clinical duties. In clinical setting, the employee receives direct supervision from physician or nursing supervisor in either oral or written form. In office setting, the employee receives direct supervision from department administrator. May supervise other Medical assistants, clerical staff and student positions. Work is performed under usual office and clinic conditions. May be stressful when working under emergency conditions.

Major/Essential Functions
- Maintains optimal daily scheduling by ensuring no conflict in physician schedules and calling patients to remind them of appointments and payments
- Prepares medical records for patient appointment, to include that patient's lab orders, hospital reports, x-ray cd's and all other studies ordered are available for patient appointments
- Prepares exam rooms and assists patients for examinations to include triage, minor procedures and diagnostic studies. Coordinates information and request with physician, medical students and patient
- Responds to in-person and telephone inquiries from patients, staff and general public
- Requests and processes authorizations for hospital services and procedures to include arranging Pre Op appointments and hospital follow ups
- Registers and schedules patients appointments for office visits; arrives patient appointments. Assist patients with information technology regarding patient satisfaction survey
- Coordinates requests and information with physician, medical students. Vital patients and enters all information into EMR
- Covers other Patient Services Specialist

- A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from an approved certified program for assistants in the area of required specialty
- Certification by an approved accredited certifying agency in the specialty that particular work will be performed
