Chief Clinical Dietitian
Amsterdam Nursing is actively seeking an experienced Chief Clinical Dietitian for our Skilled Nursing Facility in the heart of New York City.
SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Chief Clinical Dietitian provides leadership, support, and guidance to the staff of clinical dietitians who provide medical nutrition therapy and resident satisfaction. Provides current therapeutic diet education to physicians, nursing and food service employees. This position also supports the Director of Food Services in areas of institutional management of food service operations, budgeting, and data reporting.
The CCD will be responsible for assessment and evaluation of dietitians within the facility. The CCD will provide routine evaluation and education to dietary team. Evaluation and education include but are not always limited to the areas of; resident care, state and federal surveys, regulatory compliance, staffing and human resource management, MDS and nutrition assessment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides information about clinical "best practices" to the Company and Clinical dietary team.
- Works with regional and local clinical staff to establish quarterly and annual performance improvement goals and write quarterly QAPI plans to reach those goals
- Supports and facilitates Company and facility values, practice standards, and ethics policies and procedures.
- Provide training for dietitians regarding company policies and standards of best practice.
- Demonstrates customer service principles in all interactions (i.e., staff-staff, staff to resident/patient, staff to family members, management to line staff, etc.).
- Reviews and supports outcomes of Food Satisfaction Surveys
- Clinical Assessments, care plans and MDS
- Participate comprehensive care conference
- Consult on Labor Management
- Participate in food Council and resident Satisfaction Survey
- Dietary Staff Development
- Clinical Outcomes Measurements and Reporting
- Consult on Staffing Patterns and Plans
- Quality Assurance / Process Improvement [QAPI] Systems
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (But not limited to)
- Bachelors degree in nutrition from a nationally accredited college/university.
- National registration from the Commission on Dietetic Registration. And Licensure from the NY State Department of Education
- Two years experience as a clinical dietitian and one years experience in nutrition and/or food service management required. Excellent command of the English language, both oral and written. Excellent computer proficiency.
- Computer literacy skills (outlook, Microsoft office, power point, clinical software systems/EMR, internet)
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Effective and proven management and leadership skills
- Effective and proven education, teaching and training skills for adult learners
- Knowledge and understanding of regulatory processes (Federal, and/or State Regulations)
- Other duties as described by the Director of nutritional services
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Ability to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations
- Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and other facility staff.
- Possess special interest in working with long-term care residents and the elderly.
