The Salvation Army Apache Junction Corps is looking to fill a Christmas Assistant position. The successful candidate for this position will have good communication skills both verbal and written, the ability to work with the public in a professional, compassionate manner and detail oriented.

The Christmas Assistant (CA) will assist with answering phones and fielding calls for assistance requests, supplying information of times and required documentation, scheduling appointments as needed. This person will do data entry for seasonal programs including Angel Tree, Kettle program and Thanksgiving Assistance. This employee will help the Kettle Coordinator as needed with drop off or pickup of kettles as needed. The CA will assist the Corps Office with Angel Tree Program site management by picking up toys and monitoring tags on trees. They will also assist with coordinating and supervising volunteers during toy and food packing for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must be at least 21 years old with a valid AZ Drivers License
  • Be able to communicate both verbally and written
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs
  • Ability to learn Salvation Army programs
  • Be able to work with the public in a professional, compassionate manner
  • Organized and detailed
  • Self starter
  • Previous receptionist/clerical experience
  • Bilingual Preferred (English/Spanish)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally help to lift and/or move up to 75. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
