DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Civil Engineer (Irrigation) performs difficult and varied professional engineering work assignments and is
responsible for planning, organizing, overseeing and managing the engineering activities and system operations
of the Gila River Indian Irrigation and Drainage District (GRIIDD); including the design, construction and
inspection of complex projects related to GRIIDD facilities and operations; serve as technical specialist in the
fields of water management, measurement, supply, automation, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
(SCADA), water quality, drainage, and storm water management for the GRIIDD; and to provide highly
responsible and complex administrative support to the General Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Research and prepare all technical and administrative reports required by San Carlos Irrigation Project (SCIP),
Central Arizona Project (CAP), City of Mesa, City of Chandler, and Roosevelt Water Conservation District.
Research and prepare all technical and administrative reports required by Arizona Department of Water
Resources (ADWR) for groundwater recharge projects, administer, manage, and monitor all operational
aspects for groundwater recharge projects.Prepare and review structural and hydraulic drawings, graphics, plans and profiles, review structural designs,
structure and earthwork quantities, and cost estimates for planning and design purposes.Review engineering and environmental documents prepared by others to evaluate impact on engineering
design; cost estimates; feasibility; and manage the services of contractors and consultants in the performance
of engineering studies, services, and projects.Research and prepare all technical and administrative reports required by the Arizona Water Settlements Act
of 2004.Perform other related duties as assigned.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE. SKILL AND ABILITY:Considerable knowledge of modern methods, principles, practices of civil engineering and construction, laws,
regulations, directives policies and organizations relating to administration, operating and maintaining
irrigation conveyance systems.Considerable knowledge of the Arizona Water Settlements Act of 2004.

- Considerable skill in developing, analyzing, and implementing complex open-channel and closed (pipelines)irrigation conveyance systems.Considerable experience in irrigation conveyance systems and hydraulics.Knowledge of computer operations and applications.Considerable knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.Ability to interpret and apply Tribal, Federal, State, and GRIIDD policies, procedures, rules and regulations.Ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals in an above average manner to resolve technical andnon-technical issues.Skill and utilization of a wide variety of technical equipment related to area of assignment.

0 Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in Agricultural or Civil Engineering or a closely
related field and a minimum of three (3) years of engineering experience in irrigation conveyance systems
and design or irrigation systems operations and maintenance; including SCADA and contract administration
or closely related field.

- Masters degree from accredited college or university in Agricultural or Civil Engineering or a closely related
field and eighteen (18) months of engineering experience in irrigation conveyance systems and design or
irrigation systems operations and maintenance; including SCADA and contract administration or closely
related field.
0 Surface and groundwater hydrology experience is highly desirable.ADDITIONAL RE! )UIREMENT:

- Required to obtain a Tribal Operators permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving
record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record
must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission
of the application.
