    POSITION DESCRIPTION: Clerk ESS Grade: I
    Work Calendar: 10-month (198 Days)
    Hours per Day: 8

    I. General Description;

    To assist site staff and parents requesting service regarding Special Education records and students in program.

    II. Qualifications:
    1. Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
    2. Must possess ability to operate a computer and standard office machines.
    3. Must possess ability to use or learn to use Individual Education Plan (IEP) software.
    4. Must possess ability to work cooperatively with parents, students, staff and general public.
    5. Biliterate/bilingual in Spanish and English, preferred.
    6. Must possess an ability to deal effectively with matters of confidentiality.

    III. Duties and Responsibilities:
    1. Maintains punctual and regular attendance.
    2. Greets and assists students and parents entering the Special Education Office for registration.
    3. Provides information concerning programs and procedures to students, parents, and public according to prescribed protocol.
    4. Answers phones, screens calls, and relays messages to Special Education staff.
    5. Creates/maintains files of Special Education records for each student according to District protocol.
    6. Creates/maintains a database of all Special Education students at each school site and prepares reports as required.
    7. Assists with scheduling student/parent appointments, IEPs and 504 meetings.
    8. Calls/researches other information on students new to school site.
    9. Translates for students and parents, (if bilingual) as needed.
    10. Assist teachers with meeting notices and documentation required for IEP and 504 meetings.
    11. Provides students teachers with individualized educational plans in order to assist with compliance.
    12. Secures timesheet signatures from paraprofessionals and department chair.
    13. Maintains confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues.
    14. Prepares paraprofessional schedule.
    15. Provides a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and community.
    16. Performs responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner.
    17. Maintains quality control of IEPs before sending to District office.
    18. Processes teacher supply requests.
    19. Performs other related duties as assigned.
