Position Description
Employees in this classification provide patient care management to an assigned clinic in the areas of clerical and clinical duties. In clinical setting, the employee receives direct supervision from physician or nursing supervisor in either oral or written form. In office setting, the employee receives direct supervision from department administrator. Work is performed under usual office and clinic conditions. May be stressful when working under emergency conditions.

Major/Essential Functions
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Good spelling and penmanship. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Willing to work extended hours and on weekends on occasion. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Certification from an accredited CMA program, certified in CPR and maintenance of certification and maintenance of required CEU's. 1-2 years of CMA experience in an outpatient setting.

Major/Essential Functions
- Receives and greets patients for all clinics (faculty, residents and subspecialty).
- Assist physician with exam or procedure for all clinics (faculty, residents and subspecialty).
- Performs needed procedures for all clinics in the department as ordered by physician.
- Discharges patient after they are seen by the provider.
- Receives incoming calls and tracks telephone progress note for assigned physician.
- Prepares clinic for next day as assigned.
- Stock exam rooms and maintains cleanliness of the clinical area.
- Serves as a floater

License/Certification:
- Graduation from an approved certified program for assistants in the area of required specialty.
- Certification by an approved accredited certifying agency in the specialty that particular work will be performed.
