Listed is the base hiring salary range offered for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to skills and experience. The salary range listed is just one component of the total rewards/compensation package offered to candidates.
Min = $100,495.824
Mid = $130,644.571

Summary:

The Clinical Education Specialist assumes ongoing responsibilities for the coordination of orientation and education for all levels of personnel, including clinical orientation, skills training, continuing education and staff education records, and participates in PI programs. The Clinical Education Specialist provides resources for direct care to patients through the Nursing Process as needed and performs clinical and related duties as required.


Responsibilities:

Collaborates in planning preceptor programs and actively participates in review process of staff; progresses staff toward independent function through collaboration with preceptors, organization leadership, physicians and other department leader(s) and Clinical Nurse Experts; guides preceptors to provide appropriate assignments for new staff; in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Expert guides the growth and competency development of orientees, including recommendations regarding further educational training; mentors, coaches and models behaviors of standards for professional practice and clinical competency as set forth by ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center and ANA (American Nurses Association and to work effectively in a rapidly changing or critical situation personnel to provide safe and effective evidence based care; integrates advanced technologies with clinical practice to enhance adoption at the organizational/department level.

Creates practice changes through research utilization and experiential learning; assists nursing staff in accessing nursing databases available for resources to support evidence based practice; role models proactive efforts to achieve optimal patient care outcomes based on identified initiatives and best practice evidenced based guidelines. (Core measures, medication reconciliation, regulatory measures, etc.); consults and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to design, manage, implement and evaluate evidence-based education programs for specific populations

Collaborates in the development and revision of organization & department policies, procedures and standards of care to assure best practice; protects patient/family and staff members from harm, is able to recognize risk management concerns and takes action to prevent future occurrences; assists the staff nurse to evaluate factors such as safety, effectiveness, availability, cost benefits and impact on practice when choosing practice options that would yield the same expected outcomes; utilizes Clinical Education as a strategy to ensure continuity of clinical practice for self and staff; attends assigned committee(s) to promote organizational approaches to education needs.

Demonstrates the leadership skills necessary to establish expectations, develop plans to measure, assess, and improve the quality of care provided by staff members; models, mentors and coaches staff on principles of shared governance/leadership in all settings and with all constituents; supports and identifies programs ensuring continuing education of all staff members in order to meet organizational goals and individual position competencies; facilitates the learning of a standard reporting system (SBAR) to effectively communicate patient care needs; role models the hospital mission and values by communicating effectively with colleagues, physicians, hospital departments and other hospital resources; acts as a liaison between organization/department and other nursing areas, and medical staff to promote competent and quality care across a continuum.

Maintains and demonstrates expertise in performing basic and advanced nursing skills required by clinical areas consistent with standards of care and hospital procedures; integrates advanced knowledge of functional health patterns, pathophysiology, and psycho-sociology, in the clinical management of a specified population of patients; collaborates to facilitate ongoing nursing programs sponsored by the organization in an effort to ensure competent and effective staffing; participates in patient care conferences, both formal and informal, as needed.

Demonstrates compassion for the patient/families situation as evidenced by team/family feedback; guides staff to recognize the need for moral decision making and the development of an alternative plan when needed; role models awareness of patient and family rights; practice is consistent with the ANA "Code of Ethics for Nurses" (2001 Approved Provisions); reports illegal, incompetent or impaired practices.
