Position Summary:

*The Clinical In House Coordinator with serve Banner Thunderbird Hospital*

The Clinical In-House Coordinator is responsible for referral responding,implementing best practices in regard to donor evaluation, management andprocess, setting up best scenario for family conversation and assisting inclinical education. Additionally, this role is responsible for participatingand facilitating organ donors including, but not limited to, organ evaluation,family conversation and request, donor management, organ allocation, and organrecovery. This person is responsible for the on-going development of strongrelationships throughout the hospital community.

This person is passionate about organ and tissue donation, and dedicatedto achieving the primary objectives of (1) maximizing organ and tissue donation(2) providing the utmost care and support to potential donor families and (3)creating value for the potential donor families, health care professional staffwithin the institution and the larger community.

The Clinical IHC is responsible for assisting in the daily operationssurrounding organ, tissue and eye donation at his/her designated hospital. Thisposition works collaboratively with the assigned Donor Program DevelopmentCoordinator and the hospital medical,nursing and other departments as necessary in the planning, design,implementation, evaluation and maintenance of educational and quality assuranceprograms related to donation. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties:

System Management: Creates a Positive Environment for Donation within the assigned hospitals.

Provides donation related education to health care professionals.
Through formal and informal presentations, help health care professionals understand the importance of donation both for its intrinsic value and as an extension of patient care.
Provides training and support for health care professionals involved in the donation consent process.
Includes clinical, technical, and administrative DNA personnel as needed to provide comprehensive education programs for assigned hospitals.

Family Support Services
Coordinates with other DNA staff to ensure that families are well cared-for.
Ensures the conversation about donation is facilitated in a manner that respects the potential donor, reflects consideration of the most appropriate timing and context for the discussion, demonstrates sensitivity to relevant cultural, religious or other beliefs and values, conveys an understanding of interpersonal dynamics among those involved in the decision, and addresses all elements required to deem a decision informed.

Case Management
Responds appropriately to potential organ donor referrals. Maintains proper documentation on donor record.
Coordinates and participates in the on-going evaluation of referred potential organ donors.
Accesses appropriate support to address any matters that arise related to declaration of brain death.
Professional Development
Maintains awareness of current health care literature concerning organ and tissue donation.
Pursues continued professional development through formal educational programs and mentoring opportunities.
Participates in the implementation of research designed to evaluate and improve clinical outcomes in organ and tissue donation.

Collaborates and supportsother DNA departments, including but not limited to organ, tissue, publiceducation and donor family services, by participating in meetings and events asnecessary.

Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education/Experience
Experience working in a clinical position for an Organ ProcurementOrganization for at least 2 years. Bachelors Degree or equivalentexperience. Excellent humanrelations and oral/written communication skills are required.

Preferred Experience
At least two years clinical Organ Procurement experience.
