Accredited by Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), the McClendon Center operates two programs: Day Program Services and the Core Services Agency (CSA).

The Clinical Manager is a Qualified Practitioner (QP) who provides team leading, clinical monitoring, and oversight for a community support team. This professional provides individual and group supervision, and documentation review for up to six bachelors level staff members serving a maximum of 240 consumers with serious mental illnesses. The Clinical Manager will report to the Director of PDC for all team-related concerns.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Acts as the primary contact for referrals to the team. Ensures that all consumers are seen within MHRS timeframes.

  • Coordinates intakes for the team and is responsible for completing the Diagnostic/Assessment Report. Ensures that the entire intake, 180-day service plan, and authorizations are completed according to Center guidelines.

  • Hires, assists with training, and clinically supervises Community Support Specialists.

  • Provides individual clinical supervision for each CSS weekly, and group supervision at least once per month. Documents supervision accordingly.

  • Provides administrative supervision for CSS team members (tracking time off, mileage, etc.).

  • Works collaboratively with the nursing and medical staff, especially in regard to psychiatric symptom management and primary care coordination.

  • In conjunction with the QI Director, conducts performance improvement monitoring. Writes performance improvement plans for indicators that do not meet threshold, ensuring that all outcome indicators are met.

  • Volunteers for Qualified Practitioner on-call.

  • Provides services in-person after hours and on weekends, if requested and as needed.

  • Conducts evaluations in regard to emergency hospitalizations, both voluntary and involuntary.

  • Ensures that all documentation is complete and timely for each consumer.

  • Ensures that all CSS staff members meet their productivity requirements; conducts disciplinary actions and terminations as indicated.

  • Has primary responsibility for her/his team meeting all defined outcomes and performance expectations.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensed in the District of Columbia as a LICSW or LPC.

  • At least two (2) years of experience working with low-income individuals who have mental health disabilities.

  • Able to coordinate with a multi-disciplinary team.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to coordinate with a multi-disciplinary team within an outpatient mental health
    agency.

  • Experience in program design and implementation in a nonprofit or clinical setting.

  • Knowledge of sound ethical clinical practice and principles related to the care of mental health consumers.

  • A superior communicator, who shares information readily and concisely, listens as well as gives advice, and respects the abilities of others.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent computer skills, to include operating Microsoft Office Suite programs.

  • Knowledge and ability to navigate an Electronic Medical Record (EMR), including data entry.

  • Ability to relate to adults diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness, using knowledge of concepts, principles, and theories related to mental health and mental illness.

  • Ability to perform amicably in an environment serving the seriously and persistently mentally ill adult population.

  • Ability to respect and uphold client confidentiality.

  • Ability to exhibit a high level of organizational skills and able to prioritize and
    multi-task without direct supervision.

Additional Information

Salary (based on experience): up to $85K annually + Benefits

Physical Demands: The position requires moderate physical effort on a daily basis such as driving, walking, bending, stooping and standing for periods of time. The position will require sitting for long periods of time.
