General Description

In partnership with Nursing Leadership, this position has the responsibility for helping to ensure that WCH nursing staff are providing the highest quality of care that meets the needs of the patient population. Assesses current state and makes recommendations for improvements needed. Is seen as a key resource to all nursing staff. Partners with hospital leaders to effect change management by developing and implementing process improvement methodologies.

Essential Job Duties

- In partnership with the Clinical Educator and department leaders, develops, coordinates, implements, monitors, and manages Hospital-wide and Unit-specific educational and staff development initiatives.

- . Provides ongoing assessment of performance, analyzes clinical outcome data, and identifies performance improvement opportunities or trends. Conducts high level assessments, gathers information and collaborates with the appropriate process owner(s) to identify opportunities for improvement. Analyzes data for administrative and clinical decision making.

- Spearheads ongoing survey-readiness activities

- In collaboration with the Education Coordinator, participates in new employee onboarding

- Assumes role of clinical expert for specific patient populations and provides training to nursing staff

- Oversees the WCH Preceptor program

- Collaborates to develop and implement targeted patient and community educational initiatives

- Works collaboratively with physicians to perform more complicated clinical procedures

- Is key member of nursing leadership team in helping to design nursing strategies and the plans to achieve desired outcomes

- Seeks to integrate evidence-based practice into the organizations care standards

- Participates in the development of competency standards and the validation process to assist staff to achieve personal and professional development

- Regularly meets with nursing leadership to provide updates, give and receive feedback. Identify, design, and implement continuous quality/process improvement and measure impact.

Other Duties

- Assists Supplemental Work and Transition RN (in Imaging) with IR procedures

- Recommends workflows for optimal patient care outcomes

- Offers knowledge, skills, abilities, and overall advanced clinical experience as appropriate in any clinical situation needed.

Minimum qualifications

- Current Arizona State RN license, or multi-state license

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent, applicable professional field

- Current ACLS or must obtain within 30 days of hire

- Current PALS or must obtain within 30 days of hire

- At least three years experience in an advanced practice nursing role (resource RN, educator, clinical specialist)

- Demonstrated ability to assess staff learning styles, provide effective coaching and instill confidence in learning.

- Above average problem-solving ability while responding calmly in a crisis.

- Consistent ability to quickly establish rapport with staff.

PREFERRED qualifications

- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent

- Previous experience in a Critical Access Hospital setting.

Physical Requirements/Working conditions

- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting; must be able to stand/walk for most of the workday; heavy lifting, must be able to lift packages up to 75 pounds

- Must be able to work paying close attention to detail with frequent interruptions

- Ability to work in a fast pace environment
