The Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Clinical Research group at National Jewish Health is currently seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator Team Lead to join our team!

Although traditionally thought of as a pediatric pulmonary disease, advancements in clinical care as a result of innovative research, has resulted in people with CF living well into adulthood. Our team works with adults with CF on research projects ranging from genotype-specific investigational products to observational studies evaluating the effect pregnancy on women with CF. There are a wide variety of clinical research projects our teams work with, offering an opportunity to apply multiple different skills.

The ideal candidate will be positive, organized, collaborative, and open to learning and mastering new research procedures. Our team regularly engages with the clinical team as well as with physician investigators, being considered an integral part of both the clinical and research teams.

In addition to clinical research coordinator responsibilities, the candidate selected for this role will:

  • Work closely and communicate regularly with the team manager.
  • Have a high level comprehension of the active protocols our team is participating in.
  • Be a resource person for protocol related questions and study assessments.
  • Is attentive to daily functional responsibilities, operations, and regulatory obligations of the team, and works to ensure compliance.
  • Works with manager to orient and train new clinical research staff.

Knowledge of or experience working in CF is preferred but not required. This is an exciting time to be working in clinical research for CF with groundbreaking treatments under development. There are opportunities for professional development within the CF research community through writing, speaking, and attending professional education conferences. In addition to being part of the National Jewish Health community, the Clinical Research Coordinator Team Lead can also become part of the CF community of researchers and caretakers.

Position Summary

The Clinical Research Team Lead position independently performs all aspects of study coordination for the most complex clinical trials. Provides day-to-day leadership for a clinical research team and leads the training of clinical research professionals (Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator, Clinical Research Coordinator, Senior Clinical Research Coordinator and Research RNs). Serves as a resource for all clinical research staff regarding policies, procedures and regulations.


Essential Duties

  1. Works with management to lead the work of coworkers providing direction, guidance and resources as appropriate.
  2. Works with manager to orient and train new clinical research staff as well as complete associated documentation. Delegates responsibilities Responsible for Department orientation and training for new clinical staff as well as the documentation related to such.
  3. Works autonomously to coordinate all aspects of complex research studies.
  4. Fully knowledgeable and familiar with running study related equipment.
  5. Coordinates with management to execute Quality Assurance (QA) programs, Quality Improvement (QI) activities within the department.
  6. Attentive to daily functional responsibilities, operations, and regulatory obligations of unit, and works to ensure compliance.
  7. Works with manager to respond to issues arising within unit and troubleshoots, resolves, or escalates as appropriate.
  8. Demonstrates enhanced proficiency in conduct of complex research studies.
  9. Executes departmental policies pertaining to maintenance, operations, management, and monitoring of unit. Oversees functional aspects of clinical research operations within unit.
  10. Performs study-related tests and procedures in compliance with National Jewish Health training and competency requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  2. Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years clinical research experience, or a combination of clinical research and clinical experience.
  3. Special Training, Certification or Licensure: BLS required within one month of hire. CITI training required within one month of hire. ACRP or SoCRA Certification (CCRC/CCRP) or Clinical Research Associate Certification (CCRA) preferred.
