CNC Operator / Machinist

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for operating and maintaining a hybrid manufacturing cell (additive, subtractive and assembly, 3D printing, milling, and robotic emplacement). As a CNC Operator/Machinist, you will conduct all manufacturing processes involving the hybrid cell and support development work that utilizes the cell.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure that work areas are safe, that safety policies and procedures are being followed, and that good standards of housekeeping are being followed
• Demonstrated proficiency (preferably 2+ years) in setting up and operating CNC machines
• Load material in printer and all perform necessary set up steps for printing
• Ensure that tooling and fixtures are identified in advance and are available when needed
• Participate in production meetings to report on the status of Engineering activities, highlight needs and issues, and participate in discussions regarding the business
• Follow production guidelines and specifications
• Carry out preventative maintenance items and basic repair on CNC machines to keep machines up and running
• Report any issues to the supervisor on duty
• Perform other tasks as assigned
• Must be willing to work in a cross-functional organization and be willing to support other area of build based on production needs
• Understand the company Quality Management System and ensure that all policies, procedures, and work instructions are followed
• Edit programs as needed to keep parts in tolerance and machines running
• Set or adjust work and tool offsets so machines are making parts in tolerance
• Check parts to make sure they are in tolerance
• Help maintain backup tooling for production CNCs

Educational Requirements

• High school diploma / GED / Equivalent education
• Previous experience working in a factory is beneficial
• Knowledge of 3D printing and machining preferred
• Basic CAD and CAM software proficiency preferred
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Strong communication, technical and mechanical skill
• Physical dexterity
• Capable of lifting 50 pounds
• Available for shift work
