Under general supervision of the Community Relations Director, oversees interacts, and manages Multimedia programs including Audio Visual Production, Digital Signage, Podcasting, Graphic Design, Photography, and Digital Mediums. Using hypermedia is responsible for producing and editing audio, video, electronic signage, interactive graphics through a variety of formats including digitized voice, video, text, images, animation, graphics, and sound. Plans, schedules, coordinates, produces, researches, writes, directs, shoots, edits, and finalizes the multimedia programs from pre to post-production and distribution. Support the overall Community Relations multimedia efforts that enhance communication for the SRPMIC. This job class is treated as FLSA Exempt.

Tasks:
1. Supervision and Staff Workflow: Provides routine supervision of assigned multimedia staff members including monitoring and coordinating activities of the Multimedia program.

  • Prioritizes and coordinates staff workflow and provides training and assistance as needed.
  • Prepares Employee Performance Appraisal Reports (EPAR) for assigned staff that are reviewed and given final approval by the Director.
  • Establishes and develops performance standards and standard operating procedures for multimedia program and staff.
  • Responsible for assigned staff and recommends new hires, promotions, disciplinary measures, and terminations to the Community Relations Director.
  • Prepares quarterly and annual reports for the division provided to the Community Relations Director.
  • Oversees the marketing trends for the multimedia tools and provides reports.
  • Mentors the Multimedia staff so they attain the technical and customer service skills along with experience necessary to perform independently and attain further career progression goals.

2. Multimedia Operations:Assumes responsibility for all aspects of the multimedia planning, development, scheduling, preparation and production.
  • Develops and executes video, podcasts, and digitized mediums through creative design, content development, action plans, utilize mediums to promote SRPMIC working with key department divisions.
  • Plans, schedules, coordinates, produces, writes, directs, shoots, edits, and finalizes the multimedia programs from pre to post production and distribution.
  • Creates storyboards, outlines ideas, concepts, and direction to develop project deliverables.
  • Researches, writes, develops caption, and monitors trends.
  • Keeps Community Relations Director advised of program operations and activities through written and verbal reports.
  • Maintains equipment inventory, ensures equipment and supplies are available and good working order.
  • Builds and maintains positive and productive community relations and outreach efforts to establish partnership opportunities for the community, enterprises, businesses, events, and activities occurring within and outside the SRPMIC.
  • Oversight of design changes, enhancements, content reorganization and development for multimedia programs.

  • Responsible for planning and preparation of video, podcasts, digital signage structure and content. Work includes oversight of periodic design changes, functional enhancements, content reorganization, and development.
  • Coordinates and implements marketing and advertisement initiatives and campaigns with key division stakeholders. Identifies and develops new prospective markets and new opportunities for the organization.

3. Administration:Provides administrative management and support for the Department and for the multimedia development and production including making recommendations for overall improvement and streamlining.
  • Ensures the Department and media activities conform to laws as well as SRPMIC policies and procedures.
  • Manages time, plans, delegates and quickly reorders priorities as new situations and demands warrant.
  • Monitors news daily to keep abreast of all pertinent issues.
  • Approves requisitions, is responsible for the Purchasing Card (P-Card) use and supporting documentation.
  • Oversees the department operations in the absence of the director.
  • Provides back-up to the Director and conducts outreach and/or community presentations as needed.
  • Assists with special projects such as community events, opening of new facilities.
  • Manage, coordinate and participate in media relations/ communications groups that further the Communitys ability to promote its messages in the Community.
  • Ensure all projects comply with the Government mission and values and public relations/ communications objectives, policies and procedures.

4. Budget Planning: Provides reports on revenues and expenditures to ensure cost effective programs along with event evaluation data.
  • Responsible for preparing, implementing and managing the Multimedia Relations budgets and helps to determine expenditure priorities.
  • Maintains financial records, including revenue and fees generated by equipment, materials and operational costs, budget projections and forecast analysis.

5. Miscellaneous: Performs other job related duties as assigned by the Community Relations Director.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:
  • Knowledge of the culture, history and government of the Salt River Pima - Maricopa Indian Community.
  • Knowledge of public information/relations principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of the basic photography techniques.
  • Knowledge of AV hardware, software, and communications network equipment and functions
  • Knowledge and experience with video and digital cameras, microphones, projectors, mixers, displays, digital signage, and kiosk.
  • Knowledge and understanding of AV fundamentals, principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of different writing formats storylines, scripts, grammar, headline and caption writing.
  • Knowledge of capturing statistical data for each program.
  • Knowledge of advanced customer service principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of department policies, practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computerized office systems.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of employee supervision including training and performance evaluations.
  • Skill with writing feature stories, news stories and other public information/relations articles.
  • Skill identifying and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive and important information while using diplomacy and tact.
  • Skill preparing and marketing effective advertising copy.
  • Skill developing and maintaining effective working relationships at all levels of the Tribal Government and Community as well as with representatives from external organizations.
  • Skill translating research data for content developing including advertising, marketing, campaigns, initiatives, and writing news and feature copy.
  • Skill developing content for multimedia formats.
  • Skill with strong planning and project management abilities.
  • Skill with business practices, management and financial operations.
  • Skill reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy and conformity with department policies and procedures.
  • Skill preparing written correspondence and reports.
  • Skill using the personal computer and related software including MS Windows, MS Office and MAC.
  • Ability to type on the computer 50 net words per minute.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Digital Filmmaking, Multimedia, or closely related field required.


Experience:
  • 4 years or more full-time work successful professional experience in AV production and editing utilizing Apple Final Cut Pro, required.
  • 4 years proven success experience in a "live" multi-camera AV environment.
  • 2 years demonstrated successful professional experience in Adobe Flash programming, required.
  • 2 years demonstrated successful professional experience in AV production including, camera, sound, lighting, and editing preferred.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience; newsroom, communication, or closely related work required.
  • 4 years demonstrated successful professional experience in AV maintenance, repair, implementation and troubleshooting AV hardware and software problems.
  • Some on-air talent experience is desirable.
Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education and experience that will allow the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be considered.
Special Requirements

Will be required to work outside normal business hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Drivers License.
