The hiring range for this position is $14.00 - $18.00 depending on experience.
The Golf Division of the Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces department of the city of Aurora focuses on providing a superior golf experience as a recreational outlet at a great value while practicing sound environmental principles. If you feel this is a team you would like to join, the city of Aurora is looking for a Contingent Golf Shop Assistant III to perform manual and skilled activities related to operating a city-owned golf course. This position requires you to work a minimum of 40 hours a week.

This position will be at Aurora Hills Golf Course located at
50 S Peoria St, Aurora, CO 80012

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs tasks related to operating a city owned golf course including cash handling, POS/Reservation System operation, exceptional customer service skills, knowledge of golf merchandise, tournament operations, ability to answer customer questions, telephone skills, schedule, supervise and maintain contact with outside staff members.
  • Prepares daily cash deposits.
  • Provides golf instruction to include: individual and group lessons, PGA Get Golf Ready programs and PGA Junior League programs.
  • Performs lead worker responsibilities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: 6 months of golf shop related experience

Knowledge: Knowledge of golf course operations.

Abilities: Ability to follow instructions and maintain a professional environment at the worksite.

Skills: Skill in operating computers, customer service, telephone, golf operations.
Licenses, Certificates, or Equipment Required:
  • A valid driver's license with good driving history is required.
  • If you are an out-of-state applicant, you will be required to have a valid Colorado driver's license within 6 months.
  • PGA members or Associate preferred.
This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, etc.) in the course of their employment. WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands: Moderate physical work requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds; frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds; regular walking and standing; hand/foot/eye coordination to perform appropriate duties; vision to read instructions; hearing and speech communication for communication with employees and citizens.

Work Environment: Works indoors mainly.

Essential Personnel: When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel

Equipment Used: Will operate a computer, telephone, pa system, vacuum and broom, golf cart, range ball picker and washer, ball vending machine, pen and pencil.
