Position Summary

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

The CDD is seeking a highly motivated professional to provide administrative and technical guidance to support contract and grant administration for the Center.

The successful candidate will:

  • Review request for proposals (RFP) alongside principle investigators, project managers and key leads.
  • Provide guidance, consultation and training regarding all elements in the proposal process for faculty and staff.
  • Be the primary point of contact (POC) and liaison with Sponsored Projects Office (SPO) pre-award and post-award areas.
  • Ensure that all administrative and fiscal elements are accounted for and properly completed.
  • Aid in completing administrative forms required for grant submissions including but not limited to SF-424 and SF-424A forms.
  • Lead weekly meetings with proposal team members to ensure that all proposal steps are completed timely and correctly to ensure a successful awarding process. Review overall CDD proposal process and make recommendations for improvement. Implement continuous process improvement plans.
  • Check in regularly on status of awards. Provide effective project management to ensure that all awards are processed timely and successfully. Work directly with funding agencies to aid in negotiating contracts alongside principle investigators in coordination with Sponsored Projects Office.
  • Coordinate first and second level budget review to ensure accuracy. Track notice of awards (NOA) for each grant submission. Track receipt of purchase orders associated with contracts.
  • Ensure that all primary staff/faculty complete conflict of interest (COI) reporting prior to final awarding process.
  • Process cost share commitment requests when appropriate.
  • Ensure that guidelines are adhered to and that matching funds are available.
  • Assist Center Director with submission of yearly Annual Performance Reports for federal awards.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience

  • supporting and processing sponsored projects, contract proposals and/or grant proposals;
  • managing multiple projects simultaneously;
  • working at UNM or in a university setting.

Ability to

  • communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
  • analyze, develop, establish, and maintain efficient processes.
