STARTING SALARY: $68,000 - $78,000/year

POSITION SUMMARY: Support the Director of Payor Strategies in coordination, draft and review, and oversight of contracts, ensuring contract language and details are clear and correct, deadlines and renewal dates are met, and contracts meet both industry standards and organizational requirements - all toward achieving key financial and business strategy goals and objectives. This position works closely with financial, clinical, administrative, and quality systems teams to ensure optimum contract performance, achieve revenue generation, and protect the interests of the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop, draft, analyze, and gain necessary approvals from key stakeholders for assigned contracts in accordance with governing laws, regulations, and MHCD internal policies governing contracting activities.
  • As delegated by Director, directly negotiate some elements of contracts.
  • Perform financial modeling and ongoing contract financial performance assessment.
  • Ensure timely execution of contract implementation activities including communication of negotiated terms and conditions to appropriate persons throughout the organization.
  • Monitor contract performance, identifying and recommending opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure contract data and information is appropriately entered into relevant systems/databases for tracking, reporting, and renewals.
  • Respond to internal and external stakeholder questions, inquiries, requests for clarification, etc. regarding contract terms and conditions.
  • Coordinate formal dispute initiatives as needed.
  • Participate in or lead cross-functional or other project teams as assigned including, but not limited to, preparing a response to requests for proposals.
  • Act as direct liaison from the department to clinical teams working with organization Program Managers.
  • Act as a direct liaison from the department to internal staff as well as external partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: Minimum of a Bachelors degree related to contract management, business regulation, paralegal studies, health care administration, health care project management, or related disciplines. Masters or other related graduate-level study preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Four years of experience within managed healthcare, with a minimum three years of contract development, implementation, and management. Knowledge of contract administrative, health insurance, and operational issues related to managed care organizations, physician groups, and health insurance benefit plan designs.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Proven contract preparation, negotiating and implementation skills, financial analysis and rate proposal development, and knowledge of various reimbursement methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret laws and regulations that govern the health care industry.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in an efficient, accurate and timely fashion
  • High degree of critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to resolve escalated issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and attention to detail.
  • Strong computer and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work and produce work product independently with little to no review or supervision.
  • Competence and high proficiency with MS Word, Microsoft Excel spreadsheet application, MS suite of products, MS Teams and contract tracking systems.
  • Ability to interact with others in a diverse workplace, with use of tact and diplomacy with people from all walks of life.
  • Ability to learn and work within a trauma-informed environment of wellbeing.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: Computers/laptops, calculators, printer/copier/scanner/fax machines, business telephone and a variety of other office/clerical equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Office environment. May have some remote work options. Typically, Monday to Friday daytime hours, but some evenings and/or weekend hours may be occasionally required to meet deadlines.
