Job Description

Barrett Honors College at ASU is the premier honors college in the country with a dynamic Student Services division known for individual attention and service to students. Barrett at the Tempe campus is seeking a Coordinator Senior who is able to work in a team environment and create and implement innovative student engagement programming, work with Barrett Student Organizations, provide guidance for the student-run organization (Barrett Honors College Council), work with the student leaders at our upper-division residential community, Vista del Sol, and provide leadership to the Barrett student community. The position will report to Barrett Student Services Leadership and will support initiatives, special projects, and objectives related to the unique honors experience. Under general supervision, this successful candidate will work within a budget and ensures that program goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with priorities, time limitations, funding limitations, or other specifications. This person will also need to exercise autonomy and decision-making authority.

 

Salary Range

$43,100 - $47,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

·       Continue to enhance a cohesive upper division residential community with a strong identity

·       Supervise, train, and evaluate the upper division student leaders (Peer Academic Leader aka PAL) who will program activities for Barrett students living at Vista Del Sol

·       Create and implement student programming activities for both students living on and off campus including, but not limited to: wellness, academic, community service, social, cultural, diversity, and college signature programs

·       Work with all Barrett Student Organizations as a liaison providing necessary communication, guidance, and leadership to student organizations

·       Advise the Barrett Honors College Council within their three working areas (academic, civic engagement, and community improvements)

·       Supervise the student worker(s) and coordinate outreach and events for off campus students

·       Direct students, parents and staff in navigating a wide scope of Student Services related resources

·       Collaborate with university partners to execute Barrett and ASU initiatives

·       Serve on relevant committees

·       Mentor and develop student leaders

·       Maintain and establish relationships with organizations and external community groups

·       Participate in signature college events (Homecoming, Family Weekend, etc.)

·       Provide regular reports and updates to Student Services leadership

·       Oversee student employee work, including work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluate performance; motivate employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.

·       Contribute content to the website and other social media outlets of the college

·       Employ effective marketing and promotion strategies that maximize a student community experience

·       Work within a specified budget

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND five (5) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

 

Desired Qualifications

·       Evidence of a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred

·       Experience in an institution of higher education

·       Experience working in a residential college setting

·       Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills

·       Experience in working with honors programs

·       Experience in mentoring and developing student organizations and student leaders

·       Demonstrated knowledge of student services and resources

·       Experience with creating, planning and implementing student social, professional development and academic events and programs

·       Experience in managing multiple projects that require attention to detail

·       Experience in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

 

Working Environment

·       Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse

·       Frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time, walk moderate distances, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds to perform work

·        Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts

·        Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions

·       Use office equipment such as calculator, telephone, computer (monitor, keyboard and mouse), printer, fax and copier

·       This position receives regular review of objectives

·       Some nights and weekends required to perform duties
