Under general supervision of the Associate Dean of the Thunderbird Undergraduate Programs, counsels and confers with prospective students interested in enrolling in Thunderbird School of Global Management’s bachelor’s degree programs. Assists with the development of recruitment strategies. Communicates application and enrollment procedures and policies, and provides problem resolution in accordance with established university enrollment policies and practices. Supports marketing and communication strategies associated with Thunderbird undergraduate enrollment. Plans, organizes, and coordinates activities, functions, and programs associated with Thunderbird undergraduate programs and related special partnerships. The focus of this job is making connections with people, and motivating and inspiring them to achieve results. Poise and an engaging, empathetic communication style based on natural warmth and enthusiasm is the key to achieving th e objectives of this job. While the job requires strong initiative and self-direction, results are only achieved with and through people. In general, the core of this position requires a motivated and motivating team builder and organization developer with a strong commitment to results. This position is based at the Arizona State University's West Campus.


Essential Duties

  • Counsels prospective students interested in enrolling in Thunderbird’s undergraduate programs.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for undergraduate freshman, transfer and international applicants to Thunderbird undergraduate programs.
  • Acts as a liaison and develops strong relationships with prospective students and their families through a variety of electronic media, face-to-face contact, travel, and phone contact.
  • Maintains student records database; prepares, monitors, and submits reports and acts as point for prospective student information.
  • Provides assistance with various student visit programs, appointments, presentations and events, including on- and off-campus functions.
  • Serves as the advisor for the Thunderbird Student Ambassador program.
  • Drives student recruitment for program participation.
  • Trains and develops ambassadors to enliven, engage and positively impact individuals and groups.
  • Develops programming as appropriate.
  • Assists with the development of recruitment strategies in partnership with Thunderbird and Admission Services.
  • Plans and implements activities related to new student enrollment goals.
  • Develops and schedules a recruitment and program plan in accordance with specifications, objectives and funding limitations.
  • Monitors recruitment and enrollment trends from assigned targeted student population, and conducts analysis of enrollment data pertaining to assigned campus sites.
  • Coordinates market research relative to new degree options as requested.
  • Assists with the development and implementation strategies for the outreach programs associated with Thunderbird.
  • Works with Admission Services to ensure synergies within ASU recruitment across multiple campuses and colleges.
  • Supports West campus enrollment initiatives.
  • The ability to understand, quickly react and motivate others to adapt to the changing organization environment is a critical key to success.
  • Plans, organizes and coordinates events, activities, functions and programs associated with Thunderbird and Admission Services.
  • Represents the college/department and serves on various department and university committees.
  • Interacts and serves as a liaison with students, faculty and staff, and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives.
  • May supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff.
  • Serves as the relationship manager of strategic partners, regularly meeting and proactively establishing relationships with new groups.
  • Develops and facilitates workshops, meetings or conferences with high impact on program and/or participants; coordinates logistics, scheduling and participant communications.
  • Provides leadership training and organizational management opportunities through workshops and seminars to targeted groups.
  • Maintains direct contact with personnel of various outside organizations and university departments associated with program.
  • Attends seminars, workshops and conferences.
  • Provides assistance and information to faculty, staff and outside organizations regarding program.
  • Serves as a representative to ensure all aspects of function/program are implemented and controlled according to plans.
  • Supports marketing and communication strategies associated with Thunderbird undergraduate programs.
  • Understanding the needs of Thunderbird students and how they are each uniquely motivated is the foundation for designing and implementing interactive communication and decision-making processes.
  • Assists with the development of communication and marketing materials from conceptualization to delivery, including emails, videos and print pieces.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND five (5) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of ASU academic requirements and admission policies.
  • Experience in developing and conducting workshops and presentations targeted to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic project management and organizational practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.
  • Experience in coordinating and prioritizing work and activities of self and others.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Evidence of effective verbal and written communication.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
  • Frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
  • Frequent travel, involving operation of a motor vehicle.
  • Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.
  • This position receives regular review of objectives.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends are expected.
