Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Corporate Environmental Manager at our Reinhart Technical Center in Richmond, VA. This position will provide Corporate level environmental support for all North American Operations.
Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the successful candidate, you will be expected to assist site Environmental Managers and Coordinators with compliance-related questions and activities (internal consulting). The CEM will maintain relationships with outside consulting services for assistance with site or corporate-wide needs.
Your additional responsibilities as Corporate Environmental Manager will include:
- Develop programs as needed for monitoring, review, and reporting for Corporate wide regulatory submissions (aggregation of site reporting)
- Identify environmental risks and assist in developing actions to reduce, minimize, or eliminate such risks
- Support Carpenter sites with environmental permitting matters, including review of permit applications and related documents such as SWPPPs, SPCC plans, etc.
- Monitor upcoming North America regulatory environmental requirements federal, state, provincial, local
- Develop programs for consistent implementation of new regulations/programs across the Corporation
- Participate in Corporate level Sustainability Group - strategy and goal development support implementation of those environmental related needs across the Corporation
- Act as the Carpenter representative in industry groups for environmental topics
- Provide support to the Business Groups on environmental surveys and act as representative with customer on associated needs
- Act as the primary contact with governmental regulators on critical issues
- Maintain active relationship with 3rd party consultants as needed to help facilitate compliance for sites or environmental regulatory needs
- Act as the primary advisor for Senior Management on environmental compliance or strategy topics
- Interface with European colleagues on environmental needs, strategy development, or questions related to North American environmental topics
- Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or other related field.B.
- A minimum of 7 years of environmental experience
- Ability to interact well with all levels of the organization and maintain strong relationships with team members, peers and internal customers.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.
- Direct experience developing and implementing environmental programs and strategies
- Functional knowledge of Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Teams.
- Ability to travel up to 30%
