Work Hours: Varied Day Shifts

Obtains COVID specimens from patients including, but not limited to, throat swabs and nasal swabs. Additional specimen collection may be performed as needed and as trained. Processes samples for in-house or reference lab testing. Performs a wide variety of clerical duties such as data entry, filing, charting, answering phones and stocking. Delivers supplies and picks up specimens from COVID testing site.

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Phlebotomy experience preferred. Experience using Laboratory supplies and following Lab processes. Must be comfortable communicating person to person with all ages of the public as well as with co-workers and staff. Must be computer proficient and have experience with preparing reports and correspondence for mailing, charting and etc.

Licenses/Certification:

Phlebotomy certification preferred.

BLS Preferred

(Please note, this is a temporary department and position created to support the community during the COVID-19 Pandemic. There will be a time when the position and/or department will be eliminated. There are a few different scenarios when that may happen: when we are at a point where the pandemic has subsided, GVH is able to manage the workload with existing staff, or when grant-funded COVID relief dollars come to an end, etc. We want to be fully transparent about this so as not to create any confusion when the time comes. Compensation: $16-18.40/hr, depending on experience.
