DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
The Gila River Crisis Response Team is an emergency response unit operated by the Gila River Fire Department.
Volunteers are trained to assist community members and visitors to the Gila River Indian Community with
resources, referrals, and additional support following traumatic incidents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
o Employ Crisis Intervention Techniques (Training Provided).

- Operate radios, mobile communications terminals, and 15-passenger emergency response van (CR429)
(Training Provided).
0 Assist community members by coordinating with personnel from fire and police departments, hospitals, and
other community agencies.
0 Provide appropriate resources and referrals to citizens and/or their families depending upon their needs.

- Follow-up with individuals to ensure continuation of care.
0 Attend ongoing trainings and provide education to community members regarding available resources and
supports.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:Ability to exercise sound judgment.Ability to utilize strong interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and maintain integrity at all times.Ability to offer support to individuals during traumatic moments.
Ability to deal effectively with extremely stressful situations.
Ability to exercise appropriate self-care.Knowledge of Microsoft Windows.Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds using proper body mechanics.
0 Ability to stand for a long period of time that may exceed two (2) hours while performing the positions
essential functions.
0 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community members,
Community officials and the general public. Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree
to maintain a drug-free workplace.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school diploma/GED and be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.ADDITIONAL RE ZUIREMENT:Required to obtain a Tribal Driving permit. Valid state drivers license with a current proof of driving record for
the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record must be
submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission of the
application.Required to pass a background check and fingerprint clearance as a condition of employment and must continue
to maintain throughout duration of employment. Background checks are required for positions that involve regular
contact with or control over Community Children in accordance with The Indian Child Protection and Family
Violence Prevention Act, 25 U.S.C. Sections 3201 through 3210 and C.F.R. Part 63 and positions that have
regular contact with the Elderly.Volunteer
