Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced and highly organized Human Resources (HR) Specialist Sr. to join our team! As an HR Specialist Sr., you will play a crucial role in managing various HR functions for multiple complex departments within the Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) department. These functions include, but are not limited to maintaining and retention of unit personnel files; payroll management; staffing coordination; human resource compliance; internal controls; and other functions designated by unit administrator.

DAYS & SCHEDULE DETAILS: Work location is primarily ONSITE at the Tempe campus; however, incumbent may be required to travel to on-campus events to perform work driving their own vehicle. This position is a Full-time position from Monday thru Friday 8AM to 5PM, evenings and weekends may be occasionally be required.

Salary Range
$55,000 - $65,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties
YOU WILL PLAY A PIVOTAL ROLE BY:
- Working closely with department administration and central OHR to develop and implement all departmental human resource activities to ensure adherence with department and university policies, practices and regulations.
- Processing payroll tasks for the assigned unit, resolves payroll discrepancies and acting as liaison between the unit and OHR to reach a solution.
- Actively coordinating and managing personnel searches,
- Processing a heavy volume of payroll transactions for employees paid on multiple funding sources, (i.e. state, local, grant).
- Overseeing human resource and payroll quality control for department or unit satellite offices.
- Ensuring maintenance of appropriate personnel records based on OHR, state and federal guidelines.
- Providing oversight/managing the response to internal and external audit requests and prepares audit documents for payroll reconciliations; may work collaboratively with the financial specialist.
- Working closely with department administration and central OHR Benefits office to coordinate staff and student benefit issues.
- Providing support and HR expertise to management and staff in the handling of employee relations issues, complaints and/or grievances and determination of appropriate actions.
- Participating in a variety of departmental and university-wide initiatives and meetings to represent unit's interests in the area of human resources and to ensure an integrative/collaborative support of college and university interests.
- Performing other duties as assigned to ensure the continuity of department operations and to meet customer service needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND five (5) years of related administrative experience, OR, Nine (9) years of related administrative experience, OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

- Ability to interact with people from all levels of the organization including possessing:
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality customer service standards, methods and practices.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Experience in developing and maintaining cooperative working relationships both within and across organizational areas.
- Experience in working effectively and collaboratively with faculty, staff and students.
- Evidence of effective communication skills.
- Additional experience you will bring to succeed in this role:
- Experience in working in a Higher Education establishment
- Experience with Workday HR software (Workday)
- Experience in planning and establishing priorities.
- Experience in working effectively in an environment subject to quickly changing priorities, sensitive/confidential information and short deadlines.
- Experience in leading by example in communicating, participating and encouraging support the institution's sustainability programs.
Working Environment
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse
- Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
