Description

JOB SUMMARY
Perform complex work of considerable difficulty in recording and processing court proceedings and performing legal clerical duties under general supervision.

TYPICAL CLASSIFICATION ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Answer incoming calls from public, attorneys, and court staff.
  • Record and transcribe dictation at court proceedings.
  • Issue and quash warrants and confidential orders.
  • Mark and maintain exhibits according to established procedures.
  • Prepare, process, and certify copies.
  • Summarize and type court proceedings and minute form entry.
  • Keep records of matters taken under advisement to assure judge's ruling within time limitations set by law.
  • Take and transcribe oral dictation using courtroom recording device.
  • Enter and maintain data in automated case management system and maintain lists.
  • Respond to questions from court personnel, attorneys, judges, and the public.
  • Maintain accurate and complete digital and hard files.
  • Enter, maintain, and distribute judicial calendars.
  • Maintain event code sheet.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One (1) year of clerical and computer experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Valid Arizona State Driver's License.

  • Knowledge of Business English, spelling, and arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of clerical and office practices and procedures.
  • Skill in using data processing systems and other office equipment and machines.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. The work also requires the ability to finger, grasp, handle, reach, perform repetitive motion, hear, speak, pull, push, stand, walk, and demonstrate mental and visual acuity.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredicted requirements or demands.
