Position Description

The Town of Marana is seeking a Deputy Town Clerk to work in the Town Clerks Office. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in having a direct impact on Marana becoming a five-star organization.

Salary Range: $61,746 to $92,619 (placement within the salary range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget)

The Deputy Town Clerk is a member of the Towns executive leadership team that ensures alignment of the Town Clerks Office goals and vision with our strategic plan. Youll play a vital role in working with Town leadership to build upon a reputation for providing high-performance outcomes and excellent customer service to the organization and community. The following duties are examples of what the Deputy Town Clerk is responsible for:

  • Developing, organizing and maintaining an ongoing records management program throughout the organization to ensure the Towns records are collected, maintained, retained, archived and destroyed in compliance with state public records statues and best practices.
  • Evaluating and developing recommendations for enhancements to the Towns records management program, systems, and procedures.
  • Serving as the records liaison between the Town Clerks Office and Town departments and between the Town and the State of Arizona.
  • Providing records management training to Town departments.
  • Overseeing the public records request process, including implementing any electronic systems necessary to achieve and maintain timely responses to requests.
  • Providing training and assisting in the development of procedures for the public records request process.
  • Overseeing electronic submittals of material for Council meeting agendas, including the assembly and distribution of agenda packets.
  • Overseeing and coordinating the liquor license application process.
  • Assisting with the preparation of the department budget and monitoring expenditures.
  • Providing leadership, mentoring, and development to members of the Clerks Office team, and evaluating work performance.
  • Assisting the Town Clerk with elections.
  • Acting as Town Clerk in Town Council meetings and other settings when the Town Clerk is unavailable.
  • Coordinating, reviewing, and drafting proclamations for the Town.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Management, or related field.
  • Over three years of progressively responsible experience in a closely related field.
  • Over one year of supervisory experience or must complete the Town of Maranas supervisory academy within one year of hire date.
  • Valid Arizona Driver License or ability to obtain before hire date.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical and a 25-pound lift test.
  • Ability to pass both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Records Manager (CRM) certification.
  • Working with and presenting to municipal Councils.
