Position Description
The designer is charged with brand management and developing graphic design standards for Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC EP) and associated entities. With an eye on enhancing and elevating the overall university and clinical services brands, the lead designer will play an integral role in elevating institutional awareness. This position places an emphasis on data-informed design decisions and creative development and will work collaboratively with the TTUHSC El Paso Communications and Marketing and Development teams to execute and continually improve visual collateral that supports institutional objectives. The ideal candidate possesses demonstrated experience in developing creative solutions that achieve stated marketing and business goals. This position serves on the Communications and Marketing team and is expected to reflect the Values Based culture of the university.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Manage multiple projects and assistant Sr. Director with the development of creative visions/plans for the institution.
  • With guidance from the Sr. Director, conceptualize visions using brand standards for different marketing initiatives, including, but not limited to, institutional fundraising campaigns, events, clinical outreach, the university magazine and intuitional awareness campaigns. .
  • Guide design team to follow creative visions and direction for design projects, ensuring projects remain on schedule and adhere to brand/design standards.
  • With the Project Manager, review feedback from clients and make brand-centric decisions to ensure graphic and brand standards remain intact.
  • Develop creative briefs based on ideas from brainstorming sessions, with direction, schedules, and deliverables for creative team.
  • Uphold and ensure campus and affiliate branding is presented correctly and professionally in all media aspects, enforcing rules and standards.
  • Ensure graphic standard manuals remain up-to-date.
  • Ensure institutional logos are cataloged and work with the web team to maintain branding webpage.
  • Review, approve and advise on all purchase orders pertaining to the TTUHSC El Paso brand, which also includes its schools, clinics, grant-funded programs and student organizations.
  • Stay current with design trends, including those for higher education fundraising, physician clinic and dental clinic marketing and to create relevant collateral.
  • Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes.
  • Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEPs values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Must be self-directed with computer skills, graphic design skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to produce content within set deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and/or other graphic design software.
  • Knowledge of various printing equipment.
  • Ability to operate camera and video equipment.
  • Typography skills
