Performs venipunctures, finger sticks, and infant heel sticks. Procures specimens and performs waived testing. Schedules patients and performs admissions and client billing for diagnostic procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/EXPECTATIONS
- Performs phlebotomy, finger sticks with expertise consistently making sure proper equipment is used to ensure proper sample is collected safely.
- Constantly uses two patient identifies when drawing a patient. Actively uses AIDET techniques to ease patient comfort.
- Accurately performs and stays up to date with all admission updates to ensure a proper account number is given.
- Schedules all Outreach Non-Nursing Home patients in Central Scheduling making sure proper accounts are used.
- Enters orders into lab module accurately. Checking and double-checking entries and labels.
- Enters charges and credits for travel and various billings ensuring proper codes are used for Medicare.
- High school diploma required.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
- ASCP certification exam for phlebotomy preferred.
- Laboratory/phlebotomy experience necessary. Medical Terminology preferred. Computer and typing experience preferred.
- CPR certification required.
- Must maintain valid Wisconsin drivers license if required to travel for specimen collection.
- 40 hours per week. 1st Shift (4:00am - 2:30pm / 6:30am - 5:00pm)
