General Description Of Duties:

  • Assists adults with special needs with personal care tasks including oral care, attending to toileting needs, repositioning, bathing, skincare, and eating.
  • Responsible for completing household duties such as meal preparation, cleaning, and laundry.
  • After specialized training, assists adults with special needs in adhering to health care regimens including medication management and therapy plans.
  • Ensures completion of all required daily and shift documentation.
  • Assists in developing and implementing plans and directives for individuals.
  • Plans, implements, accompanies, and transports adults with special needs to activities in the community, including vacations, and works towards community acceptance and integration.
  • Directly communicates with consumers.
  • Encourages client independence in all aspects of home life and community activities, including household duties, entertainment, walks, etc.

Education and Training:

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
  • Proficiency in English Language reading, writing, and verbal communication skills necessary.
  • Ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms.
  • Capacity to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Must be able to handle behavior problems and individuals with medical issues.
  • Ability to maintain a friendly, courteous image for the Agency to the public, customers, and officials.
  • Experience with adults with mental, physical, or developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Required to complete specific certifications from the training department and maintain them throughout employment.

Other Requirements: Must have reliable transportation, valid NM drivers license, insurable driving record and proof of current liability insurance. Must be able to pass a background check, & pre-employment drug screen. Must be able to lift 50 lbs as well as support 70-100 lbs. occasionally. Adelante is a drug free workplace. Job Types: Full-Time, Part-Time

Pay: Starting $16.00 per hour, plus differential pay for swing and graveyard shifts.
