As a Direct Care Staff, you will be responsible for assisting adults with special needs with all personal care (i.e., oral care, attends assistance, toileting, repositioning, bathing, eating, skin care, eating, etc.); and will be responsible for completion of household duties (i.e., meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, etc.); upon completion of specialized training, assists adults with special needs with health care regimens (i.e. medication, therapy plans, etc.); completes all required daily and shift documentation. You will assists with developing and implementing plans and directives; assists with planning, implementing, accompanying and transporting adults with special needs on/to activities in the community, including vacations and working toward community acceptance and integration of individuals; communicates with clients directly; encouraging client independence in all aspects of home (i.e. household duties and community activities including entertainment, walks, etc.)

Education and Training: High School Diploma (or equivalent) required. English Language reading, writing, and verbal communication skills are required in order to perform the essential functions of the position. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, supervisors and co-workers. Must be able to handle behavior problems and individuals with medical problems. Have the ability to present a friendly, courteous image for the Agency to the general public, customers, and public officials. Experience working with adults with mental, physical or developmental disabilities preferred.. Must complete specific certifications (from our training department) and maintain those certifications throughout employment.

Other Requirements: Must have reliable transportation, valid NM drivers license, insurable driving record and proof of current liability insurance. Must be able to pass a background check, & pre-employment drug screen. Must be able to lift 50-75 lbs. as well as support up to 130 lbs. occasionally. Adelante is a drug free workplace. Job Type: Full-Time and Part-Time

Pay: Starting $16.00 per hour, plus differential pay for swing and/or graveyard shifts.
