Job Description

Growing company seeking a database management leader to support our existing platform, transition our database platform to our target cloud services solution, and manage and enhance that new environment to meet current and future needs.

This position is responsible to ensure the availability, confidentiality, and integrity of our information system data assets, wherever they may reside. The candidate will have the ability to analyze, secure, recommend, develop, implement, and maintain systems, processes and policies that protect business and client information while providing leadership to the Database team.

This role will provide extensive and effective oversight of the operations through management of internal and external resources. Systems may include on-premises, managed services, 3rd party, or cloud services.?

The position reports directly to the Chief Information Officer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Plan and manage database administrator (DBA) staff in support of operations delivery in all areas including:

  • Enhancing the scalability and performance of existing database architecture
  • Developing database structures and features according to organizational needs
  • Hiring, supervising, and mentoring database development teams
  • Protecting data by developing data security and restoration policies, procedures, and controls
  • Conducting diagnostic tests and evaluating performance metrics
  • Developing procedures to ensure data integrity and quality
  • Preparing and presenting system performance reports to senior managers
  • Performing database maintenance, migration, and upgrading hardware and software
  • Documenting processes and complying with best practices in database management
  • Manage the full life-cycle of back-end development of the businesss data warehouse including development of ETL processes, cube development for database and performance administration, and dimensional design of the table structure
  • Keeping up to date with developments and trends in database management
  • Oversee planning and forecasting of systems consumption, quality and delivery of service and customer satisfaction.
  • Work with project teams and solution architects to develop database designs and solutions as well as plan and execute delivery of such designs and/or solutions.
  • Align with and support the execution of the Information Security Program vision and strategy for internal and in the cloud.

Technical Qualifications

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in management information systems, computer science, database management, information systems, or information technology
  • Additional and applicable specialty certifications, education, and training are preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience database engineer/administrator with experience managing massive high transaction, Tier 1 database systems.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a managerial role
  • Advanced proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL); expert hands-on experience with several database engines, including MySQL, MariaDB, or Aurora MySQ
  • Demonstrated experience with database and platform migrations; specifically, Oracle to Aurora MySQL
  • Demonstrated experience writing database policies, standards and/or procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of database technologies, architecture, and data security
