Job Summary:

Oversee the management, development and implementation of external communications programs and activities including media relations, reputation management and public relations as it related to managing the companys image.

Position Summary:

Oversee the management, development and implementation of external communications programs and activities including media relations, reputation management and public relations as it related to managing the companys image.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the companys media exposure through enhanced communication with all external channels including online, print, broadcast and social media

  • Support the implementation of the integrated communications plan to advance and enhance brand image and reputation of company; broaden awareness of programs and priorities and increase visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences

  • Manage media relations for Webster and its LOBs, and other segments, etc.

  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders to support major external/internal-facing initiatives Create and manage thought leadership efforts for company executives

  • Act as a company spokesperson with the media, as appropriate

  • Oversee the PR budget

  • Manage external PR agencies activities as outside vendor to assist in company PR efforts

  • Support the execution external brand building initiatives

  • Supports writing and editing of all external communications including press releases, talking points, event scripting for executives

  • Manage file management system to support Corp Comms team

  • Manage documentation, status and progress of team projects including quarterly reporting

  • Manage direct report(s) in communication function

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Advanced degree - Associates, Bachelors, Masters, etc. in journalism, public relations or related field is preferred or equivalent work experience

  • 7+ Experience in working in communications

  • Ability to be self-motivating, strong attention to detail, prioritization of tasks, time management and crisis planning

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities

  • Demonstrated leadership and experience in comprehensive strategic communications and media relations

  • Strong relationship building skills to foster support in a hybrid working environment

  • Technical skills should include Microsoft suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel

  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills and the ability to interface with senior management

  • Be flexible for travel and off hours work related events

This position includes high-visibility interactions with executive management

The estimated salary range for this position is $125,000USD to $135,000USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
