Director ICU / CCU

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Critical Care Director is responsible for maintaining the efficient functioning of the Intensive Care Unit on a twenty-four (24) hour basis. The Critical Care Director:

• Coordinates patient care services provided in the Intensive Care Unit.
• Functions as a resource person for staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of nursing staff with a focus on promoting clinical competence in the provision of emergency and critical care nursing care services.
• Assumes responsibility for the quality of nursing care provided by and the Intensive Care Unit including the implementation of programs to improve this quality.
• Ensures adherence to standards in the Emergency Department and the Intensive Care Unit based on Hospital Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, Department of Nursing Standards, and Emergency and Intensive Care Unit Department Standards with collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer in unusual situations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse.
• Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
• Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice with an emphasis on leadership and management experience.
• Previous experience in critical care with certification (CEN or CCRN) preferred.
• Current verification of competency in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
