POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of the Information Technology is responsible for the management and performance of IT staff, project implementations, infrastructure, networks, communications, telephone systems, clinic automation systems, IT hardware and management of the portfolio of software systems and technical solutions across the company. This position also oversees facilities management. Under the Directors supervision, the Department shall generally control the duties and responsibilities relating to the acquisition of all computer and telephone hardware and software, internal applications support, network maintenance, website and any other support and services required for practice operations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Information Technology

  • Responsible for oversight and administration of all management information systems and information technology systems.
  • Analyzes the needs of different departments and determines ways to meet practice/clinic objectives by modifying existing or developing new information processing systems.
  • Become an expert in the practices electronic medical record and practice management system. Lead workflow initiatives to improve the staff and patient experience pertaining to scheduling, clinical documentation, and business office functions.
  • Develops and implements policies, procedures, best practices, to improve the reliability, performance and functionality of products and services.
  • Facilitate strategic initiatives, budget management, development, implementation, and maintenance of these systems through Life Cycle Management methodologies.
  • Establish departmental goals/metrics and objectives and report progress on a regular basis.
  • Develop and implement business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to operations in the event of emergency situation or data loss.
  • Analyze IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other needs.
  • Establishes IT related policies and procedures including, but not limited to workstation and server management, internet usage, email usage, applications, file access, backups, disaster recovery, antivirus, antispam, general, and specific security issues, and software installation and distribution. Oversee security of systems, networks, and enterprise information.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefits analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Consult with NMOA leadership and staff to understand and assess needs for system purchases, updates, and resolutions to improve products and patient service.
  • Perform the role of Project Manager for major projects. Establish and maintain regular communications and meetings with department heads and staff members regarding project status and timelines. Obtain feedback and input before, during and after project completion.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Federal and State laws and regulations.
  • Ensure users have available resources regarding technical support for computer and data communication problems.
  • Stays abreast of advances in technology.

Facilities Management

  • Responsible for directing the design, planning, maintenance, and construction (when necessary) of company facilities and properties.
  • Prepare and implement preventative maintenance schedules. Ensuring facilities maintenance work follows safety standards, conforms to specifications, ensuring work orders are tracked and completed within budgeted guidelines.
  • Oversee contractors engaged for facility maintenance, cleaning, and renovation.
  • Develop and manage facility maintenance budgets and, when necessary, renovation and new construction budgets.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of space planning procedures, rental techniques and lease terms, and all matters pertaining to the management and maintenance of property. Facilitate space planning exercises and oversee optimum office space utilization.
  • Oversee and coordinate all activities related to facility building, acquisition and renovation.
  • Coordinate with CEO and legal counsel to author Letters of Intent on real estate acquisitions and leases and prepare contracts for negotiation and signature.

General

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Companys leadership philosophy, policies, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include leading by example, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, resolving problems.

Direct Reports: Systems Engineer, Systems Administrator, Helpdesk Technician, Facilities Technician.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems and a minimum of six years of IT experience in the healthcare industry, three (3) of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Works in well-lit, ventilated and climate-controlled office environment with routine office equipment; some equipment has moving mechanical parts.

Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
