Director of Communications - Pharmacy Benefit Management

CVS Health, one of the top companies in the United States, and CVS Caremark, a business unit of CVS Health, is looking for a Director of Communications to help build and protect the reputation of the pharmacy benefit management (PBM) business unit and provide ongoing issues management counsel and support. You will support the development and measurement of a communications strategy to address anti-PBM reputational, legislative and regulatory efforts, particularly at the state level, and highlight the value of CVS Health's PBM services to essential opinion leaders and decision makers. Reporting to the Senior Director - Communications, PBM Reputation & Issues Management, you will help identify issues prospectively and support media strategy efforts (earned and paid) to allow us to engage and put the best foot forward for CVS Health in defense of the PBM business.Your ability to partner with and support senior executives and colleagues across the CVS Health enterprise, including Government Affairs, and CVS Caremark' business unit to ensure agreement of strategies is essential to success in this position. You will use your experience across multiple disciplines (including familiarity with federal and state policy issues affecting PBMs or health insurance plans) to support execution of plans with in-house talent and our PR agency of record. You will be an essential member of the Enterprise Communications team and will work with colleagues focused on multiple lines of business and corporate centers of excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
* Align with our PR agency of record and in-house talent in support of our overall communications strategy, including timely delivery of collateral assets supporting CVS Caremark leaders/account leads.
* Serve in an essential role helping to advance CVS Health's integrated "state advocacy campaign" working with Government Affairs, essential CVS Caremark business leaders and Corporate Communications.
* Be an on-the-record media spokesperson for state-level media interactions affecting the PBM business unit, particularly reputational, legislative, and regulatory issues.
* Proactively pull in insights from broader company communications department (Enterprise Communications) and directly from PBM Communications team members that may benefit and/or amplify PBM reputation communications strategy.

Required Qualifications
10 years of experience in communications roles, including experience with internal and external communications.
Willingness to travel, as needed, in support of business needs.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in healthcare, insurance and/or consulting.
Public affairs experience in the PBM, health insurance or retail pharmacy industries.

Education
Bachelor's degree required.
