  • Director of Plant Operations and Maintenance

    Department: Plant Operations
    Reports to: Assistant Superintendent District Operations

    Position Summary:
    The Director of Plant Operations and Maintenance performs a variety of specialized duties related to all aspects of maintaining school facilities and construction including supervision and direction in planning, developing, managing, coordinating, and directing. The Director of Plant Operations and Maintenance assumes responsibility for the physical condition of the buildings, grounds and equipment.

    Training and Experience:
    • High school diploma or GED
    • Five years of plant operations or building management experience
    • Five years of experience in commercial construction
    • Proven supervisory and management experience.
    • Four Year College or University degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred.
    • Five years of plant operations experience with a school district preferred.
    • Five years of experience in school constructions and renovation preferred.
    • Five years of experience in project design and management preferred.
    • One or more years of direct experience in a skilled trade (Electrician, Plumber, HVAC Technician, Carpenter, Welder, Painter) preferred.
    • Experience in developing and managing school bond programs preferred.

    Licensing/Certification Requirements:
    • Certifications in AHERA Inspector and Management Planner preferred.

    • Outstanding customer service.
    • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Must have excellent communication skills.
    • Must have an excellent memory and the ability to function well under varying levels of stress.
    • Working independently with minimal supervision and assistance.
    • Maintaining confidential and/or sensitive information as appropriate.
    • Keeping abreast of current trends and information pertinent to the job.
    • Effectively using technology as a tool in the performance of assigned duties.

    Positions in this class typically require: climbing, crawling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, pushing, reaching, lifting, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
