The Medical Center of Southeast Texas is seeking a Director of Surgical Services to join our team!

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Nurse Manager, Surgical Services, assumes administrative and technical responsibility for specified functions in Surgical Services, which may include the Holding Area, Operating Rooms, Anesthesia Services, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Outpatient Day Surgery, and Endoscopy. In collaboration with the Chief of the Department of Surgery, this individual is responsible for the ongoing assessment of the quality of patient care services provided in these areas by practitioners. The Nurse Manager, Surgical Services:

  1. Coordinates the provision of services under Surgical Services.
  2. Functions as a resource person for staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of the nursing staff with a focus on promoting clinical competency.
  3. Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided by the Surgical Services Department.

Makes and implements decisions regarding activities within these areas based on Hospital Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, Department of Nursing Standards, and Surgical Services Standards in consultation with the Chief of the Department of Surgery in unusual situations.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Current licensure in Texas as a Registered Nurse.
  2. Minimum of three (5) years of clinical practice in provision of Surgical Services with emphasis on leadership and management experience.

Current verification of competency in cardiopulmonary resuscitation including neonatal and pediatric resuscitation with PALS and ACLS required, CNOR desired.
