Position Description
Leads the Quality Improvement program of the Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso Ambulatory Clinics. Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions
-Lead the Clinics in the process of continuous accreditation by The Joint Commission and/other similar agencies that the Clinics select or need to pursue by articulating standards and criteria to physicians, nurses and administration.
-Review and propose revisions to policies related to the Clinics Performance Improvement program.
-Perform a continuous evaluation and provide recommendations to Clinics Operations in order to assure the Clinics consistently meet high standards of safety in patient care, including infection control.
-Collect and report measurements related to Clinics operational quality related to the Clinics interaction with patients and other healthcare facilities.
-Develop and report, in collaboration with individual specialties, measurements of clinical practice quality that reflect and promote adherence to best nationally recognized clinical practice guidelines and standards.
-Coordinate and drive a peer review process that evaluates, identifies deficiencies and recommends actions related to occurrences, complaints or reports concerning the clinical performance in the Clinics of providers or nursing staff.
-Maintain an ongoing system of clinic performance evaluation and improvement of individual providers, including elements of operational and clinical performance, compliance with Clinics policies and professionalism.
-Participate and provide input in matters that outside the Clinics may be related to clinical activity, patient safety or infection control.
Work in close coordination with the Office of Occupational Health in areas that overlap with Clinics Infection Control, and assist that office with its functions when needed and required by Clinical Affairs leadership.

Position Specific Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred; Six years progressively responsible management experience . Additional
education beyond Bachelor's may substitute for experience on a year for year basis. Graduate from an accredited School
of Nursing. Current Nursing License in the State of Texas . Three years experience in hospital/clinic Quality
Improvement activities/programs.
