    CLASSIFICATION: Certified

    REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Teaching and Learning

    SUMMARY:
    Under very broad guidelines, serves as the official District representative for matters related to the Gifted and Talented program supports and issues. Also serves as the District liaison for special populations of students, delivery and monitoring of services to ensure compliance to the state regulations for Gifted and Talented populations.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of G/T program, assessments such as Cogat, Ravens Progressive Matrices etc. and supports.
    2. Knowledge of instructional leadership and good teaching practice
    3. Attends appropriate professional development, webinars, trainings and stays abreast of latest trends in addressing needs of Gifted/Talented students.
    4. Uses data to make decisions.
    5. Responsible for planning, implementation, evaluation, and support of all G/T services
    6. Works collaboratively with principals, G/T site coordinators and teachers to develop an annual district professional development plan designed specifically to meet the learning needs of GT staff, classroom teachers and administrators.
    7. Serves as the Chairperson of the District Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee and is responsible for planning and convening all G/T committee meetings throughout the school year.
    8. Monitors and expends G/T budget(s) in accordance with established local and state policy and procedures.
    9. Responsible for all G/T screening.
    10. Responsible for completing all the annual state gifted and talented report, budget development, all revisions to state approved plan and certification of accuracy of G/T student database files.
    11. Conducts routine audits of school-based G/T services to ensure compliance with district G/T plans.
    12. Works with district administration to implement corrective action in the event a school is not in compliance with the district plan.
    13. Serves as a member of the Chief Academic Officer Instructional Team.
    14. Maintain positive working relationship with all stakeholders.
    15. Serves as an advocate for the needs of G/T students in a professional and appropriate manner.
    16. Responsible for the preparation of the annual staff allocation for G/T staff subject to approval by Chief Academic Officer, equivalent or designee.
    17. Works collaboratively with all stakeholders.
    18. Meets established deadlines for implementing G/T program and communication.
    19. Performs other duties as assigned.
    EDUCATION:
    Masters Degree in Education preferred.

    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
    • Arizona Teacher Certificate
    • AZ Endorsement subject specific
    • G/T Endorsement
    • Highly Qualified in core academic subjects
    • Fingerprint Clearance Card
    EXPERIENCE:
    • Experience with curriculum and assessment.
    • Experience with coaching teachers and providing specific feedback.
    • Experience with research-based instructional interventions.
    • Experience with adult learners
    • Experience developing and presenting effective professional development
    • Experience with data and task analysis
    • Strong pedagogical knowledge of research-based best practices
    SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
    • Must have experience with computers and be able to utilize a variety of software including developing PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets, and Excel documents.
    • Must possess effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to supervise personnel and ensure program effectiveness.
    • Must have an ability to work cooperatively with staff at all levels including principals, teachers, directors and supervisors.
    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    The working environment is the normal office setting with travel to school sites.

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    Twelve-month employee, Certified Coach Salary Schedule, employee benefits in accordance with Governing Board policies.

    EVALUATION:
    Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Governing Board policy on evaluation of administrative staff.
