    STIPEND JOB DESCRIPTION

    DISTRICT DEPARTMENT PROGRAM FACILITATOR

    TITLE: DISTRICT DEPARTMENT PROGRAM FACILITATOR


    APPROVED: May 5, 2021

    SALARY: STIPEND

    (up to two consecutive years with required reapplication after second year)

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1.

    Demonstrates a desire to improve student performance.

    2.

    Demonstrates professional leadership within the department.

    3.

    Prepares, plans for and leads in-service sessions with an emphasis on District wide PD opportunities.

    4.

    Collaborates with administration to ensure implementation of Professional Learning Communities according to PLC definitions, district/site established parameters, and non-negotiables.

    5.

    Ensures a GVC (Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum) is developed for each department course including the implementation and alignment of academic standards.

    6.

    Assists with course curriculum planning, essential standards, benchmarks, common formative assessments, and other GVC related support items for each subject taught within the department.

    7.

    Collaborate with both the Director of Curriculum/Instruction and the Director of Assessment/Data in making curriculum and assessment recommendations.

    8.

    Answers basic and advanced questions regarding the subject matter.

    9.

    Employs innovative uses of technology for teaching and learning.

    10.

    Leads and supports Department Chairs including crafting of District Department Chair meeting agendas, facilitating District Department Chair meetings, and following up to assure that District wide meeting information is appropriately transmitted and received by teachers and other relevant employees.

    11.

    Leads Department activities connected to Summer PD Academy.

    12.

    Performs responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner.

    13.

    Shows consideration and respect for all persons.

    14.

    Assists with other tasks and performs other duties as requested by the District Director of Curriculum.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications for this job description are representative

    of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

    1. Valid Arizona teaching certificate.

    2. Minimum of three years exemplary teaching experience and expertise in the discipline/department that will be served.

    3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    4. Knowledge of curriculum needs and instructional strategies in the department that will be served.

    5. Basic knowledge of using student achievement data to drive decisions.

    6. Recognized as an exemplary classroom teacher by supervisors and fellow teachers.

    7. Demonstrated leadership skills and activities.

    8. Demonstrated ability to facilitate group meetings.

    9. Demonstrated ability to effectively design and deliver professional development sessions.

    10. Previous Dept Chair experience is ideal but not mandatory.
