Job Description
We are a fast paced, high volume ocean export oriented company with deep roots in Canada with a rapidly growing Export business. Though the office is based in Vancouver, we are proudly part of a greater group of companies exceeding 3000 employees across Canada.
Assigns job tasks to worker according to loading and unloading schedules
Observes loading to determine conformance to loading patterns and to prevent shifting or damage to materials or products during transit
Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment -
Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet schedules in conjunction with dispatch
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems
Review of that days problems, recapping with Central Dispatch and provide computer and hard copy reports for Management
Performs activities of workers supervised
Responsible for keeping operational costs low through packing in the most organizational efficient manner.
Directly supervises 6 to 20 dock workers and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Other duties may be assigned
Knowledgeable of equipment and handling procedures with regards to the trucking industry
Dangerous Goods Certificate
Strong leadership
Geographic knowledge of the areas we service
Good communication skills
Computer skills for preparing reports
Basic math skills for cubing, adding, etc.
